Do you approve the hiring of Tomsula as HC ?

I'm calling this now, if we hire an OC who is so successful in their first year they have HC offers elsewhere, we will win the SB

Then, we'll have to look back on this post

Not sure what you mean. By success I didn't mean win the superbowl, I meant turn our 30th ranked offense to say top 7-8. If that happens that dude will have interviews for HC elsewhere. I mean did you see who has been getting interviewed this last week by different teams?

And lets not assume this OC in question is some noob/fish like our new HC, it could be Trestman for all we know or Shanahan, both already with lots of experience and can easily take the job of the Dolphins/etc next season if they are successful here.

This is all common sense.
The lasting image of Tomsula for me was in the one game he was HC after Sing got fired. He was holding the clipboard and wearing the headset like a fan that won a contest.

Everytime the Niners scored the players all reacted like it was hilarious that Tomsula was coach, and that we were still winning. It was like a joke.

You know in baseball when a RP has to take an at bat, or when a hitter has to pitch? The whole team is watching from the railing, laughing and yelling jokes? Thats what it felt like.

Now hes the actual HC. Freaking great hire York. What a terrible choice. This team is going downhill so fast.

Better than Gase

The players know him and respect him and will play hard for him.

yeah but what about the offense

Lets see who hires but you guys should be happy we didnt hire Gase, that would have been a disaster.

I think this will be a disaster

Lose/lose situation. If Gase is promoted to HC in Denver and goes 7-9 while Tomsula goes 10-6 and takes us into the playoffs, people are still gonna b***h about him being the wrong choice.
This is what I fear about this move:

In my opinion we had arguably the best DL coach in the league in Tomsula and the best DC in the league in Fangio.

Now we are in a position because of this hire where Fangio is likely gone, and if Tomsula struggles as a HC he'll be gone too, we cannot simply demote him back to DL coach.

Had we hired Mike Shannahan, or maybe even Mike Holmgren, everyone would have likely stayed on the staff a few more years.

I read in an article that Fangio either wanted to be HC or for us to hire Mike Shannahan or he was leaving.

We respond by hiring Tomsula which is a slap to the face to Fangio. Now he's unhappy and likely gone. Tomsula will likely be gone in a couple years maybe even just one. And we will be stuck with nothing.

All we have are defensive minded coaches right now and I fear our next move will be to hire Kyle Shannahan which is a move I would have liked only if it was a package deal with his father.

This move makes no sense to me. It's obvious that Baalke needs someone that will allow him to do whatever he wants. That's what he's got in Tomsula. A guy the players love, and he loves.

Hope this works out. I pray I'm wrong.

This is NFC West we're doomed. Mediocre hire. which I hope to eat crow.

Sorta like Greg Roman? Three NFC Championship Games and one Super Bowl. Nobody hired him away as a head coach. Your argument just lost all credibility.

It's not an argument. It's not even an opinion. If a coordinator has success they are more likely to be interviewed for HC spots, fact. Not sure whats so hard to compute here.

My issue is when the HC actually understands the Offensive side of the football, it won't matter who is his OC (plug and play).

So in that regards, it wont matter which superstar OC we go with, since at any moment they can leave.
lets just get this season over it.
I'm cool with this, as I suspect that unlike the egotistical HCs before him, Jimmy T will not put his hands in where they don't belong. He is a man that younger men want to play for. All the heart and passion for it. Now, just surround self with coordinators that know what to do with this personnel.

I completely agree! An offensive coach was needed, preferably one that would calls his own plays. Having Roman in the booth so that the play had to be relayed through Jim was slow and maddening
I've always liked tomsula, but not 100% thrilled with the decision. If we were going defensive coach the whole time, I would have rather fangio be promoted to insure he doesn't leave. But if Jimmy can bring in a non potato oc and the defense still does its thing I'm sure we will be fine.
I'm utterly shocked. Terrible hire. Straight yes man

Eh, I think that had more to do with not having the tense atmosphere of Singletary than anything else. JT otherwise has been a focused coach on the sidelines.

This is all the same sh!t we said about Singletary. We don't need a god damn cheerleader for a coach.
Our new offense will consist of a QB, RB, FB and 8 OL. No need for receivers or tight ends anymore. First pick in the draft is either a linemen or another RB lol!

Why bother with a QB then?
