The only team to give up more sacks than the #49ers this year? The Chris Forester-coached Washington Redskins, now the OL coach in SF.

FML

We just hit the rewind button on a old VHS tape & the outcome looks very sh*tty

Is their line as talented as ours? NO.
were they able to run the ball with alfred morris? YES
we have to wait and see the final pieces before we just go "oh the redskins gave up x amount of sacks"
yea who were their quarterbacks.. mccoy cousins and rg3
that doesn't really tell me anything about his coaching job with the line.

Sounds like the carlos rogers arguement

we have to wait and see. the problem with this line is the same and was the same before and during jimh. good at run blocking bad at pass blocking.
let's not act like we're going from a line that was wonderful at both and just firing people left and right for the sake of doing it.
its crazy how immediately nostalgic we are about what we just got through complaining about every single week on offense.

defensively we have the right to complain if things don't go right or if things don't make sense coaching wise but we have to wait and see until the pieces fall into place.
Could be wrong but I thought they had a lot of injuries the last couple years too on the OL in Washington.

they did but let's not take a minute and analyze everything. just look at the name and it's not the best coach to ever do it dropped down from heaven and complain we're going to lose everything.

So Baalork's Plan is to restore the brilliant line of assistant coaches this team had when they sucked. What the hell did we do to deserve this?

Sidenote: I guess both Carroll and Belichick had mixed results as HCs at one point in their career. So there's some glimmer of hope?

You guys think this is a joke? We blew up a top-3 or top-5 coaching staff in the league, to hire back everyone from the years when we were the worst team in the league. I'm so dumbfounded that I don't know what to say. I hope this team loses every game (it kills me to say this) so that Jed can finally get the point that he shouldn't be running this team.

Stop it. The offensive coaching staff was NOT great. so far with defense we've made solid moves but the talent has a lot to do with it. We can go back to when Jim was hired and see how many people hated the idea of Vic Fangio being the coordinator citing his NUMEROUS FAILED STINTS in the same position.

We fired the best LBs coach in football. What did he do to get fired? Maybe the best coaching job in all of sports. How much better could he have been?

If they all forget how to play football we can revisit this post. If we can hire someone who will get them into the right positions then we'll be fine. the talent isn't bare.
great coaching makes the player in many cases not the other way around

great talent is why we can switch to 4-3 after being successful in the 3-4 and people who know this team's personnel be perfectly OK with it.
the things that our linebackers CAN do others can't some things you can't coach. we need someone to put them in the right positions and cater to their strengths and limiting their weaknesses. that's all coaching is

yeah im just bitter because we had the guy who put them in the right positions for the last 4 years
Just saw that the QB coach is being retained, because he did such a fantastic job developing Kap these last 2 seasons. He'll probably get a promotion to OC

they were among the top in the league prior to 4 years ago. the real change for this team came in the secondary....

Maybe if he's getting different instructions of what the o.c. and coach want kap to do, we'll see different results.
Kaps mechanics and footwork are far more developed than people want to give him credit for.
The two major theories about the coaching firings are that we are trying to get rid of all things Harbaugh-related and save money(had some of the highest paid assistants with Fangio scheduled to make $2mill this season).

Doesn't keeping Chryst throw a wrench into those theories?

Being on the offensive side of the meetings, he would have worked with Harbaugh daily and would not Tomsula at all.

He would be part of the staff that was all well paid. Though he could have agreed to a lower salary.

But why keep anyone from Harbaugh's staff who is not intern-type assistant?
Waiting for word of Mangini as our DC and Raye as our OC

The 49ers also will retain QBs coach Geep Chryst. His son, Keller, was a top recruit at Stanford. Keller, of course, is a quarterback.

The guy who was supposed to be teaching Kaepernick how to play quarterback while Kaepernick was regressing is the guy that they retain.

If they hold on to Mangini I'm going to flip anew all over again. They dumped the best defensive coaches and keep guys like Chryst.....

Really, THIS is who you value? Have we made a SINGLE good call yet? This is almost like a big F-U before Jed announces the 49ers are being sold and moved to L.A.!

They have a billion dollar stadium to pay for. They CANT move the team anywhere. Derp.

Will Tarver still run a 34 base defense? I have read that he is a 43 guy. If we go back to a 43 defense I will be even more pissed than I already am!

Its already been reported that the 49ers are going to a 4-3.

How many times do people have to explain how defensive schemes work? No team runs any scheme for the vast majority of plays. Its a mix. We ran more plays from the Nickel last year than anything else.

Aldon is an OLB, but spends most of his time up on the line.
Is it possible that when Baalke interviewed those top DC that they all said they would have been more aggressive on defense and would attack more than Fangio did? When the interviewed Fangio he said he keep running the defense the way it wss

I think the FO wanted the attack and more aggressive style leading to the defensive change!

Well of course most teams run a hybrid of sorts, Seattle doesn't run a pure 4-3 either but generally you draft for the scheme that you are in.
