So according to Baalke the 49ers staff will have 17 coaches, which I think is pretty average around the NFL. They previously had 20.

cool

phoenix im going to need you sir.
we're supposed to be fair balanced and be honest.
can't jump the gun either way because we want this team to win the super bowl regardless of who the owner is.
baalke is a great gm.
i think tomsula will be great with a great staff. the players believe in him and we have the talent to match the belief.
the fans need to feel the same way too because nobody else outside of here is going to.

Aldon is an OLB, but spends most of his time up on the line.

Well of course most teams run a hybrid of sorts, Seattle doesn't run a pure 4-3 either but generally you draft for the scheme that you are in.

Correct just responsibilities change somewhat in the front 7 that's it.

we were strong in the front 7 4-3 and 3-4 so we should be great going forward.
I'm kind of starting to feel like Schwartz will end up in Chicago under Fox just so he can try to stick it to the Lions twice a year. He seems like the kind of guy to really carry grudges.

Baalke could try to play the "we hate harbaugh too" card

they needed to downsize, to many stupid cooks in the stew last year, no wonder players were clueless, two locker room b******t and a coach who had to make the sure the spotlight was on him

Tomsula: "Can you just let me explain the great 401k we have here...."

The 49ers also will retain QBs coach Geep Chryst. His son, Keller, was a top recruit at Stanford. Keller, of course, is a quarterback.

The guy who was supposed to be teaching Kaepernick how to play quarterback while Kaepernick was regressing is the guy that they retain.

this is looking like a full on organizational troll job

We keep all the offensive coaches and let the defense guys go.

For shame Jed. He really doesn't know how to run this team. Neither does Buulke.

But Roman, Morton & Solari are gone... WTH are you on about

We've held on to Rathman & Chryst in some capacity.

You guys think this is a joke? We blew up a top-3 or top-5 coaching staff in the league, to hire back everyone from the years when we were the worst team in the league. I'm so dumbfounded that I don't know what to say. I hope this team loses every game (it kills me to say this) so that Jed can finally get the point that he shouldn't be running this team.

Stop it. The offensive coaching staff was NOT great. so far with defense we've made solid moves but the talent has a lot to do with it. We can go back to when Jim was hired and see how many people hated the idea of Vic Fangio being the coordinator citing his NUMEROUS FAILED STINTS in the same position.

We fired the best LBs coach in football. What did he do to get fired? Maybe the best coaching job in all of sports. How much better could he have been?

If they all forget how to play football we can revisit this post. If we can hire someone who will get them into the right positions then we'll be fine. the talent isn't bare.

Yes, if we replace our great coaches that were just fired with equally as great of coaches we'll be fine... but I'm not seeing that we're doing that. We just hired one of Nolan's offensive coaches. Like seriously? We're about to hire Nolan's OLB coach as our DC. Do you remember how are OLBs were under Nolan? I'm crying as I type. I'm literally crying

He has such a wonderful record

He'd be a great fit. His team ranked 32nd in defense last year. This looks about right with what we're trying to do. Can't wait for the OC. I'm still hoping that we bring back Singletary to coach the QBs

I think the FO wanted the attack and more aggressive style leading to the defensive change!

I think a change was needed. Being a top 3 ranked defense for 4 years in a row was not sufficient.
Feels like we went back to 2004 with these hires. Not saying they can't work but what a nightmare this year has been. I mean I can see if Donatell and Leavitt wanted to be let go so they could go with Fangio but I really hope we didnt fire them. Harbaugh, Fangio, Donatell, Leavitt for Tomsula, Tarver, Chud/Trestman, blah, blah.... seems like we downgraded big time. Yeah just don't see why Chryst was retained either out of all our assistants (minus Rathman). Just hope Tomsula's chest bumping and rah rah can get the guys amp'd up at the end of the year to go on a serious playoff run. These days that hot team coming in at 10-6 can do just as much damage or more than that 13 win team with a bye. Nothing against Tomsula he's a great coach but the way the staffs are playing out this would be below: Harbaugh with new OC, Harbaugh with Roman, Fangio with solid OC and Donatell/Leavitt, Gase with Fangio or Donatell, Rex Ryan even with half ass oc, Bowles/Austin, Kubiak (if he would want a HC job)... etc

And side note I was on Jed's side from the get go when he took over he was full of enthusiasm and he wanted to win so bad. They stopped being so cheap. Now that he got the new stadium, got the SB seems like his ego has gotten big and he doesn't know how to stay out of the way. Also, seems like he's getting cheap again. I guess he has a lot to pay off on the stadium but does it seem like now that the SB is set, they are making 10 or whatever a year from levi's the seats are sold he is going to just start being cheap again and the money will come in anyways. Maybe it's just me. I like Baalke's FA strategy but it's just stupid not to pay a HC (harbaugh or outsiders) what they want when they make a hell of a lot more difference then paying average and overpaid FA's that don't make a difference. It doesn't count on the cap why are owners so stingy with coaches then will pay FA's whatever they want?

Totally agree. Not sure about the "cheap" label though. Our assistants have always been the highest paid and Harbaugh was making $1M less than what Jason Garrett ust signed for. Perhaps he's entertaining going down that road and some of these moves are dictated by $ but I doubt it. But we'll see. As to the rest, totally agree!
