writers not being objective is something that we should be used to around here.
there aren't 20 rosters filled with more talent than ours period.
the super bowl seahawks just got through playing with people we discarded.

...then again I had similar sentiments in regards to SB 49...
Yeah, same here. Such high hopes going into last season...
Yup, yup, yup. Kinda fell apart after 7-4 in week 12.

"You have to feel for Jim Tomsula right now. He takes over for a man who led the 49ers to three straight NFC Championship Games, and is expected by management to lead this team back over the 8-8 hump. San Francisco might be lucky to go 8-8 this year. Aging wide receivers (ifMichael Crabtree is gone), possibly no Frank Gore, possibly no Vernon Davis, no Justin Smith, and the hope that NaVorro Bowman can return to 2013 form. Oh, and then there's the unreliable Aldon Smith. Step into a slim win column, Jim."

Pretty negative stuff from Elliott Harrison
Doesn't matter. These are the same guys who expected us to "Suck for Luck" in 2011. We went 13-3 that year.
Tomsula and his staff is a complete unknown, but this is still a highly talented roster. If the coaches are competent, that's good enough for 10 wins. We only dipped under 10 this year because of injuries and turmoil between coach and FO. That won't happen again.
We win 10 games minimum this year, too much talent not too.
Vegas has the 49ers with like the 6th or 7th best chance in the NFL of winning the SB next year. I think the ranking is ridiculous, looking at the 49ers schedule they would REALLY have to underperform to do worse than a lot of the teams listed in front of them.

Yeah Harrison is taking a worst case scenario and acting like it's the expected outcome. The odds of us losing Gore, J.Smith, Davis, A.Smith, and Navorro not playing well are slim. We might lose one or two of those, but assuming it is a foregone conclusion, which is silly.

We have little idea how much talent will be on the roster in 2015. Losing Crabtree, Iupati, Gore, Vernon, Brooks, Justin could be a huge blow. Add in the question marks surrounding Willis and Bow. Aldon could easily be gone too. Should be an interesting offseason.

I'm not sure about chryst, but i love the rest of the staff. former coaches and coordinators everwhere. combo of young talents and veterans. its an excellent staff. you either don't know enough football, or you're a blind hater if you think the overall staff is garbage.
then again half of you would be sucking each other off if we had gotten gase, a guy no one else wanted to touch so he had to follow (beg?) fox to Chicago.
Baalke is one of the elite GM's in this league. I'm happy to roll with him even if i'm not sure what he was thinking (geep)

I like JT.
the head coach doesn't have to be bill walsh. pitt does just fine with a strong leader than players want to play for an can teach - and let his coordinators do their jobs

love foerester wolford for the lines. like the new QB coach after hearing his radio spots and watching the youtube clips of him talking WCO.
love sparano on the staff. rathman is great. not sure about Geep.
i like mangini, he did well with an aging, dying defense in NE and ran solid units with little talent in Cle and NYJ
really like tarver (great young mind, future DC if mangini gets another HC gig)
pendergast and lewis are veterans with DC experience as position coaches.
whats not to like?

Well, there are certainly things to like - but it's a far from proven staff.
Mangini actually struggled as DC in NE and had ordinary defenses in both CLE and NY.

mangini coached the pats at the end of the dynasty when their guys were done and burried. he had no secondary, aging, slow lb's.
and he had ordinary defenses in cleveland and NY with horrible talent.
took s**t and made it respectable in those two cities. you dont have a top defense with marginal talent. even BB in NE had some s**tty defenses when he had s**tty players
