When Carroll left NE he wasn't exactly viewed as a great HC candidate.
Belichick you could argue was always thought of as a great DC...but these are just 2 guys.
NFL is littered with coaches who failed in one spot and succeeded elsewhere. Shanahan another good one. BTW, most of these guys fit that Belichick/Carroll profile in that they didn't succeed I their first opportunity and then went back to the role thay made their name it. That's what many of these guys are doing (Sparano, Pendergast, Lewis).
I'm not making an apples to apples comparison here, but it always bugs me when people write off coaches because they failed in previous positions. So did Fangio. So did Chudzinski, Shanahan (both), and Trestman whom many on this site wanted.

Heard from #49ers player who thinks changes to coaching staff will hurt team in 2015: "Everyone will see soon enough," he said.
That player is right. Our entire coaching staff is made up of has beens or never was's.
Has beens and never was before their current Jobs...
...yeah those guys got together for a pretty big game recently.

All true. I still remember people on this site pointing out how mediocre Vic Fangio's previous success as a DC had been.

you know, HONESTLY, the LEAGUE has not seen a set of Coaching Staff similar to our 2015 Coaching Staff since the days of Art Shell getting his 2nd chance for the Raiders... and how he hired some OC (Mike White) that has been retired for about 8 years... no???

Art Shell was a 2nd time HC. Tomsula is not. Chryst was promoted from QB coach, not a retired guy.
Insane to me that people who are simply saying "wait and see" are looked at as the homers and the peeps who have all but assumed failure are "logical".
Jeez.

Mangenius will produce a historically great defense. Chryst will channel his inner Bill Walsh and Tom Rathman will sign a one day contract before the Superbowl and score the winning TD! How's that for positive?
Nice try, but phony platitudes dipped in sarcasm are pretty tired by now.

It's a new level of crazy. Sane people understand that the only way to actually know what happens in the future is to wait and see.

If you want to hide in the corner and pretend the world is ending, go ahead. To each his own. But please don't fool yourself into believing that a positive outlook automatically equates to lacking a grip on reality. Sometimes things work out.
