All you can do is just hope for the best at this point. To me the hiring of two receivers coach to focus on different receiver types and responsibilities shows at a good awareness of some of the issues that were plaguing the offense in recent years so while this staff might be cobbled together with duct tape, it also doesn't necessarily mean they can't be successful. The odds are against it I'd say but if these guys all have pretty good chemistry and work together seamlessly with no ego's involved, anything is possible.

Hoping all of this works out and Baalke ends up looking like some grandmaster of football level genius.

Doesn't any of this smell like our "too many cooks in the kitchen" problem on offense the last few years??

Who is providing the vision for this offense? The only one who has spoken out is Baalke--- we're gonna run the ball.... umm ok?

Maybe a lot of decent parts can come together, but more often than not, there has to be a genius in the room somewhere guiding things. i don't see that person

No it does not. Too many cooks is having a protocol like the one we just had. Too many cooks is not working together to make 1 plan and have 1 goal.

There have been multiple reports about the offense. Getting back to using Kap's strengths also looking at the hires you can clue into things like a zbs and other stuff. I would much rather have them say the ideas that they want instead of getting on the podium and lying to us about what they're going to do i.e. the last regime.

I like what we did so far, but when I think of it... Baalke has a say. Tomsula has a say. Chryst dials up the plays. Woelver has a say. Sparano will have a say. Rathman has a say. Our QB coach has a say. 2 WR coaches ugh. That's a lot of cooks.

I can totally see us doing better and playing smarter on offense. But I thought we would get there with a Gase-type leading the way. I never thought we'd do something like this. Hopefully it works out.

This should cause some thought. Why exactly is Harbaugh no longer the 49er head coach?

Unfortunately, or is it fortunately, neither you nor I know enough about what happened to even begin pretending that we have the answer to that question.

We do know that Harbaugh is gone. He decided that he wanted to coach college football at Michigan.

Harbaugh no longer has a say in what happens to the 49ers in the future. The team's immediate future will be decided by those who are still on or with the team. We have a new coaching staff and that staff has not yet coached a single game. But, that coaching staff, unlike Harbaugh, will have both voice and vote in setting the team's immediate future.

I am looking forward to seeing how the new guys do. I think that there is a decent chance that the 49ers make the play-offs next year.

It will be a while before we know how good this new coaching staff is.

The coaching staff is set. Time to move on. free agency and the draft are looming.

I don't believe Baalke has a say in anything other than the personnel. I believe he has final say over that. Planning from week to week he has no say that's not his lane. This is why we brought in the people to go with Chryst to put together a game plan.

Ideally, and this is just my imagination on how things will work. We get to training camp and every position coach does an evaluation.
Each position coach notes strengths and weaknesses and they begin to tighten them up.

Chryst develops an offense that plays to the strengths and hides the weakness as a unit.

The coaches get together in 1 room when they're developing a game plan, study a defense and say x can do this well that's a mismatch in our favor, y cannot do this so let's keep him out of this position for this week. They all do it together with each position represented and put this team in the absolute best possible position to succeed on game day.

On game day Chryst has his notes and his plays that should help. Ideally he has plays that can get us into a rhythm. Plays that are money plays for us when we need them and he can make adjustments in game when things aren't working. Also the common sense to keep doing things that are working.

Just what I would like to think is going to happen.

The system sounds like it will be different. Under JT, Geep is the one OC on game days. But during the week, Logan inputs into the passing game and Foerster the running game. The RZ will have input from several offensive sources as needed (but mostly just those three and in collaboration). Under HaRoman, they not only compartmentalized the game plans but all coaches had input on game days! Harbaugh could have anywhere from 1 to 5 voices in his headset with him having the final veto. Not anymore. Now it's on Geep and only Geep. Sure, with the experience of the offensive coaching staff, one could alert Geep to something they see but Geep will be "the man" on game days and from that shift in system approach, I expect better flow to games and much more time up at the LOS for CK.

Is that directed at me?

What? Lol, no.

Someone was talking down to all of the "homers" in an extremely superior tone, then he stepped on his junk in front of God and everybody (with both feet) and disappeared for the whole day, only to resume his sworn duty of homer extermination today. Same condescending tone, same message, no humility gained from saying the dumbest thing on the Zone for the whole day (TOUGH to do). That's the guy I was specifically referencing.

The NFC West division is stacked with great coaches, with proven head coaching experience. Also, this division has great players, mostly on the defensive side of the ball. The 49ers weakest link was offense...and there hasn't been any significant upgrade on offense since Harbaugh was kicked out. New names does not automatically mean better (or worse). Will the free agency get some good players? will the players want to come here...when none of the coaches wanted to? Will it be a good draft? Lots of unknowns...and that's not a good thing in general.
If you watched the SB, the amount of game planning that went into beating Seattle was just amazing. It was no easy task, but they methodically beat them, one step at a time, with planning and execution. There is a lot of strategy involved, clock mgmt., personnel substitution, list goes on & on. Its old news now.

Tomsula needs a lot of experience. The assistant coaches need a lot of experience. If the goal is to get to 8-8 this season, then I think the 49ers most likely have the pieces in place. If the goal is to win the SB this year, sorry, that needs a lot more than a few prayers.
In the end, "consistent wins" triumphs everything else. The coaching staff is what it is, the owner and GM made the decision.

Once again...time will tell.

Nice. Sound. Reasonable take.

Nothing wrong with this take at all.

Also really like the #49ers addition to the defense staff of Clancy Pendergast. He's an excellent coach
