Three things I don't see Jeepsus Chryst doing that happened already under the last staff...
1. Not gonna call 5000 formations before the center hikes the ball.
2. Calling plays that confuse our own offense more than it does the opposing defense.
3. Won't be tricking himself (out thinking himself/out smarting himself/second guessing himself) as much as (it seemed) Roman did.
That's worth (at least) three wins.
"nope, can't do it... i want winners"

As you all know aside from the injuries on offense by having a rookie center, an out of shape Boone who had horrible marks at the beginning of the year only to have excellent marks at the end, a Davis injured almost every game only to have Martin as a turn style of pressure and sacks, and VD injured and not effective...........as long as we have a OC that can make a few small adjustments a game and not s ore the lowest points in the second half ever, what was it 4.2???? We will be a 10 win team minimum.
Last year the bears, cards, raiders, rams, sd games were in the bag if we had a competent OC thats 13 PROBABLE WINS AND THE DIVISION AND BYE WEEK and if we actually had a healthier team on offense possibly that second Seattle game where we were running all over them until gore and Hyde went down.
So cheer the hell up! Out team is healthier and we have an OC that may use kap like he should be used, better than roman

And the work Kaepernick is doing this off season can't hurt.
The offense will also benefit from being different than the one NFC West defenses have been preparing for the last four years.
And the defense gets Willis, Bowman, Dorsey and Williams back hopefully full strength. One wild-card is the possibility that Justin Smith will go another year because he likes Tomsula so much.

To push a traded draft pick from the 3rd round to the 4th.

Silver lining--listening to the radio yesterday, can't remember whether ESPN or KNBR, a pundit suggested that Mangini was a great defensive mind but a terrible HC because he is like a football savant and terrible with human relations. They suggested Tomsula would help him with this and Mangini might really help the defense to be even better. He has memorized everything Belechick and Ryan and can call a game very well. I so hope this to be the case!

I never thought about this. Tomsula can mesh with mangini and help him stop being a prick. this can work.

This is encouraging and what I have been hoping will happen - too many quality football people (not media) have consistently said over the years that Mangini really is a talent in coordinating things on the D side of the ball. We'll see if he's grown and improved even more since his last stint as DC - and hopefully, what he's seen/learned in working with the Niners' O recently has helped him even further in seeing things from a different perspective.

-These coaches know Keaps' strength and weaknesses better than anyone in the league.
- Harbros kept young talent away from the ball. These coaches will get the best dudes out there to please Mr. York. ....I. I hope.
-Ballke wants to keep Gore and the run mentality. Nothing pleases me more. Run>Pass
The run tires out opponents' defenses and gives Kaep a better percentage to up his passer rating in the second half...something Roman knows nothing about. The last time we beat the Hawks',we ran the ball very well.
-Out of the offense I want to see;
1st qtr- Runs/short passes/draw plays ,screens, etc. (defense will give us field position like always ,even in the Nolan/Singletary era)
2nd qtr Runs / dumpoffs/short passes /etc.
This will tire out the opponents' defense tremendously.
3rd quarter Play action /medium passes /hard counts
4th qtr 49ers most likely have the lead with safe, accurate football.NOW,you can ball out with bombs or continue with the run and high percentage short/medium passes.
-Roman went full retard designing plays full of illegal formation and doing things like passing the ball against a team dead last against the run.WE LOST TO THE RAIDERS FOR FUVKS SAKE
- I DON'T see this as a return to the dark ages. We have crazy talent now and ...oh yeah,a top ten quarterback .
If anything I'm excited to see these niners. If you think about it,a lot of coaches just plain suck and got their jobs via acquaintances. Rex Ryan,Shannahan,Del Rio,etc. A lot of good coaches, like a lot of players , do not get the nod solely based on favoritism.

The audio of Logan posted earlier had him saying that he started as a WCO guy but morphed into more vertical passing as defenses began to blitz more and mix up coverages to throw off timing. So whether they continue to run more or less, this may work to Kaepernick's benefit. They just have to find a way to give Kaepernick time. I see them going back to more QB movement and option type plays. CK seems to be more accurate when he's moving so I'm looking forward to this.
The one bad thing about not bringing in outside coaches is that they often bring books on your own players. I'm hoping Tarver can do this but not sure any other coaches will be helpful in this regard. Foerster could have some info on the 9ers front seven but it would likely be, "Boy are they good!"

but he only has 1 year of actual coordinating under his belt...although i should probably factor in his HC years, just not sure how much of those were him or his DC. But in terms of him calling games, he really only has that 1 year in NE as a DC and it wasn't too impressive, but that could be related to injuries. who knows, i guess we will see. i think it is going to be a boom or bust with him as DC.

I'm not sure who called the D when he was the head coach. So perhaps you are right. My take on the guy is he is a defensive version of Trestman...a walking encyclopediea who just doen't have great leadership skills. Don't forget...Tomsula is going to be on the sidelines reviewing and changing calls as he sees fit. For good or bad!

It's becoming en vogue with some posters to bash Jed at this time...so, I'm coming here into the 'Silver Lining Thread'. I posted the below in the 'Jed York' thread - being one of the older-in-age posters around here, it seems I have a little different perspective about Jed and the Niners organization that stems from when I first became a fan when I was very young when Eddie D. just took on ownership of the team.
I do agree with some of these posters - the owner should stay mostly out of the limelight of the football/personnel/strategy discussions with the media, especially during the season. IMO Jed is in no way anywhere near the meddlesome owner that someone like a Jerry Jones is. During the regular season, we don't hear much from Jed re: Niners' personnel, game-related stuff, etc., and we shouldn't. Jerry Jones almost gets quoted after every game.
Back to Eddie D., he was of course successful but not his first few years as a young owner and some people around the league back then were not impressed with him and the way he acted along with some of his decisions during those early years (I wonder what it would have been like during those times if we had social media? The 2-14 back-to-back years at that time were no fun as it was). Eddie learned from that at a young age as an owner. Jed as we know was and is still young relative to other owners and is learning from his mistakes - he publicly acknowledges this, too, which is a good thing.
I'm not making excuses for Jed...I'm just putting hope that Jed can follow Eddie's lead and learn and get better from his mistakes to ultimately be successful in owning the team just as Eddie. Supposedly, Jed talks to Eddie all the time...we've seen pictures and have heard how Jed has been so close to this team since his early years as a kid. I'm hoping all of this eventually comes together to make Jed a great owner in the not-too-distant future.

Good post. Surprising how many people have deified Eddie D and forgotten his errors and in particular the huge mistake that ended his era. He was human. Mistakes, we all make them. But you are right, under the heat of the modern day spotlight the relationship with Bill Walsh, for example, would have become even more difficult. Jed is imv making a good go of it. He has done some things I haven't liked but there you are. He is on the receiving end of a lot of ignorance and hate.

I like this math and attitude...and it could be true, also!
