Sherman to have Tommy John surgery...6 months rehab. Should be good to go for the season.

You gonna get called a homer! I think Steve was great, and he's one of my all-time favorites. I'd take him over Peyton and probably Brady, since he's actually a legitimately tough player who doesn't quit when he gets hit a while. I think that aspect of QBing has been forgotten in the current NFL. I think PeyPey and Brady would have been eaten alive in the 80s or earlier.

I wasn't being entirely serious. That being said, Young with the protection they give to qb's these days would be incredible.

Well the silver lining is he MAY NOT be ready to play after 6 months and this injury will hamper him ability to jam/grab for the rest of his career.
And the Madden curse got him.

Seattle is starting to have their stars suffer injuries, as the niners did after several playoff years.

I got one: how low expectations are NOW! Thank you Jed and Trent! Geniuses!
By taking a consistent superbowl contender and ripping the head of the coaching staff, the sheer brazeness of the action (which is clearly against the best interests of the team) have so horrified and shocked the fan base that fan expectations have dropped from superbowl or bust (York's stated expectation when firing Harbaugh, which he is already back pedaling from) to "it's been a good 2015 if the 49ers DON'T own the #1 pick in 2016).
Truth is, this roster gets a bit weaker every year that the roster gets further away from being a McCloughan roster and closer to a Baalke roster. My guestimate is that in 2015 we are around average overall talent 8-8. We now have a decidedly average coaching staff, coaching decidedly average players. The predicted outcome of the mediocre matching would be 8-8 with random outcomes of close games putting the prediction of our actual record between 6-10 and 10-6. New coaching staffing should bring fresh energy that can win an extra game or two early in the season, pushing us to the upper end of this range. So, 9-7 or 10-6 is a very realistic outcome for Tomusula's first season.
The Jed and Trent genius is that homers will now call 9-7 or 10-6 a great outcome and validation for firing Harbaugh. They will point out that it's a better record that Harbaugh last season, conveniently ommitting the fact that the last season was marred by injuries and negative news leaks on a scale never seen in football history. They will conveniently ignore, you know, the other 3 seasons where we contended for a superbowl. They will most certainly ignore Jed's superbowl or bust declaration. A 9-7 or 10-6, will give Jed and York and those stretching for hope, all they need to say 2016 is really THE year. One more "reload" to "push us over the top", maybe we will even resurrect "being a bully". And most importantly, Jed and Trent will feel less threatened, more appreciated, and most importantly, more credited with the "success" of the team. And they will take a 9-7 that they get credit for, over a 13-3 where they don't.

Dude, are you really so insecure that you have to deliberately bring a negative rant into a thread that was designed specifically for positivity? You have a right to feel the way you do. That doesn't mean that you must feel compelled to rant in every conceivable thread. We are happy here. Go be miserable elsewhere. I promise there's a place for you; that place is not this thread.

Same here. There is more than enough talent to get 10 wins. Back-to-back seasons with < 10 wins would be totally unacceptable.
Still highly skeptical of the coaching staff, particularly on the offensive side, but I like Tomsula. All we have to do is maintain the defense, and play to the players strengths on offense. Add some team speed/quickness to the equation and we should be right back in the mix.
