And I think he and Tomsula really get along well which could lead to a lot less drama, a lot more focus, possibly an easier time making needed adjustments and a more comfortable environment for everyone.

Just hope he wasn't distracted from the draft and FAcy. Doubt he was, as you say...he tends to be obsessive.

No crying in football? Somebody better tell Russell and Vernon.

well he does not have the drama what was created, prolonged and generated by the former head coach to deal with, he and us are also not up nights wondering how in the f**k we are going to win the next game in spite of roman, so that should free him up mentally and physically. i would like to think they are doing some numbers crunching right now, trying to bring down the salary cap, maybe talking about decisions to make on our current players who may or may not come back. i never never worry about how they handle free agency cuz they have that to a science in my opinion. the draft is something i would never want to deal with. watching the draft day movie with costner( which had some way cool niner footage ) made me nuts and that was just a movie.

Very good point!

I gotta say.....there are DEFINITELY some things i've been beyond upset about this offseason. Obviously getting rid of a coach of Jim Harbaugh's excellence I felt was devastating. The jury is out, no doubt. The Coordinator hires (I like our S/T hire): Chryst and Mangini...nothing that makes ya jump for joy. Now i dunno who is doing the hiring exactly, some say it's all Baalke, some say its Tomsula, but personally I like to think the truth lies somewhere in the middle. HOWEVER, with that said......the position coaching hires= Knocked it out the park IMHO. Especially guys like Tim Lewis who are PROVEN commodities , as well as Sporano, Pendergast, etc. But to me the real "jump out ur seat and get excited" about our BRIGHT future (yes BRIGHT future) is the proven track record of Trent Baalke at finding gems in just about every draft (2012 Notwithstanding). Have we already forgotten how brilliant he was just a year ago? Some picky naysayers might say he swung and missed again at WR, well it remains to be seen but Ellington may still be the real deal and spark our offense like we had hoped his quickness and speed could. And that would just be icing on the cake. I'm excited about guys like Lynch, Dontae Johnson, Chris Borland, Carlos Hyde, Martin, and even past picks like Chris Culliver, who i felt had a marvelous bounce back year despite some who want him gone (tough, physical corner who was solid when we needed him to be). Aldon, Reid, Davis and Iupati have obviously been fantastic as well. But u add the infusion of Tom Gamble's genius to the mix and i truly feel we are just going to continue to stockpile young talent and make it so that we will win no matter who the coach is. Baalke is arrogant and may have given up the best coach we have had in years and yes that sucks, but he is GREAT at plucking talent, especially in the latter rounds. SO despite my still being upset at losing Harbs and some of the decisions Baalke/York have made this offseason, i still have much to be optimistic about. But that's just the way I feel. Just my opinion.

Nice post. You make good points. I do like to read logical post sometimes. Not bad For a noob, JK! Good post.

Harbaugh never let anyone fairly new ,grow.

The list of players that hate Harbaugh is a long one..
From Eric Davis

"You're dealing with professionals," Davis said. "Not kids. Not high-school kids. Not college kids. They actually understand their job. They study just as much as the coaches and they understand when you're setting them up for failure. That's, ultimately, why (former 49ers head coach) Mike Singletary failed. The guys reached a point where the motivational speeches didn't work. They were like 'Teach me.'

"A coach's job is not to motivate, it's to teach. Hand progression. Eye progression. Footwork. 'Make me a better player.' … I've seen (Tomsula) with players, from a position-coach standpoint, and he is a master at it. Very good. I have no idea how he's going to be as a head coach because I have not seen him do it yet. Do I think he's going to put in the necessary effort, time and dedication into it? Yes. Because that's who he is. But we don't know how he's going to react in those situations until he's there."

The fact that he said god basically choose them to win against the Packers was so ridiculous.

That kind of thing is always annoying on so many levels - the Creator Of The Universe cares who wins the football game? Really?

I still remember when Roger Craig fumbled, the Giants kicker makes the kick and Bill Parcells said "I think God was out there on the field with us today."

If I could have gotten away with it, I would have loved to sucker-punch him with a hay-maker right then and there.

wow good read,, just like sings little speeches started to lose their way on the players,, so did the witty little cut sayings at a presser by JH. I know as we lost games, as we dithered around on offense, as the players stopped playing hard for the coaches,, his little gobble gobble turkey jive sound bites were no longer funny

Did you ever see after games when he did his who's got it better than us. It was good year one but they (players) were rolling their eyes by year two or three.

If they played like crap and lost their way because of a chant, then sorry on them. Apparently there's a way of teaching unmotivated players to respond since it's not the coaches job to motivate.

its the coaches job to get players ready to play, to teach them to be better and to adjust to what other teams do,,,,,, we had some of point number one,, non of points two and three this year. that is why a fresh start is welcome by many. after four years and seeing the team score four points in the second half of games and seeing the coaches do NOTHING about it,, i was rolling my f**king eyes to. little chants, little cute sound bites do not go over with good vet players when things go south on the field and the coaches act like they are either unable or unwilling to fix it. i am so ready for a fresh restart
