The 49ers' 2016 first-round selection out of Oregon produced his best grade to date, pressuring the quarterback twice and recording four run stops. However, San Francisco was again gashed by the opposing ground game that would greatly overshadow the solid individual performances from Buckner, LB Aaron Lynch and CB Tramaine Brock.



I'm telling you that JoN defense is pure trash there is some talent on this team but they are set up to fail....hiring a s**t coach that got fired from the Browns for doing awful at his current job is not the way you get better IMO.

I'd hope we upgrade the DC position & throw cash at someone like Pettine who might not be a good HC but was a damn good DC.

As a DC with the Jets (09-12) 1st,3rd,5th,8th with the Bills they went from 22nd to 10th.

Overall they have been much more competitive is their losses. We lose most games by more than 2 TD's and we have perhaps the worst run defense that the NFL has EVER seen. The Browns are on the way up....the 49ers are heading the other direction.

In the hunt for #1 overall pick in this years draft!

I'm typically one of the more optimistic posters in these forums...but, I have to admit I've resolved myself to accept this truly is a lost season. If there are any silver linings, I'd say it's both the OL and DL. Our OL is definitely better than the 2015 version and should get better the longer this unit stays together. The DL's been taking their lumps, but Armstead & Buckner will be stars, IMHO. The biggest issue on the DL is lack of a big, nasty NT. That has to be addressed either via FA or the draft. Ian Williams is an injury waiting to happen, Dorsey's not quite ready to step in on a full-time basis and Purcell tries but is simply overmatched. All that said, with the twin towers as the new baseline, adding a dominant NT would seal that deal for years to come.

He's been getting pressures all yr...i don't even think Campbell had one last night. 3-4 DE aren't OLB man.

Buckner has to work on plugging the gaps not pass rush he's fine in that category.
