Not worth it.
The only thing I can think of as a silver lining is that we're gonna have a very high pick, possibly number one overall, so we can either take one of the best players or try to trade down and stockpile a s**tload of picks like the browns did last year.

Hey, I didn't think they should have set him loose to begin with. One of these days a light may go on and the guy may become the Hall of Fame player living inside him.

Everyone loves a second chance story, I say, lets do it, we need an edge rusher, he needs a second chance, or a third chance....maybe its his fourth, but screw it, I like the guy!
at least they ain't losing this week!

yes, he's signed with them through next season. FA in 2018.
Silver Lining: If we get the worst record in the league, SF 49ers will be in the news about the #1 pick once the Superbowl is over.
Possible top two pick and hopefully with a few veterans getting the boot we no longer need...100+mill to spend in FA.

Well, silver is now $17.83 per ounce. There's your silver lining.

I'm buying!

We're not going to spend it all this free agency. Wouldn't make any sense to when we're still at least 2-3 years from being a playoff team again. Whatever we spend has to be sustainable for 4 years.

We have around $50 million in cap room now - I expect us to roll over $35-40 million to 2018. Ideally, we'd keep building it up until we have some talented pieces in place through the draft which could take a year or two. It's not something you spend all at once.

And totally was gonna put that in the comments but assumed people know not to spend all your cash in one sitting haha. But having that money gives you the ammo to play things how you want without having a restricted budget or max price on targeted players.

You have to spend 89% of a certain 3-4 year window. Since we didn't spend recently we have to spend now

Silver lining is a top 3 pick and a lot of cap space.
Silver lining seasons almost half over

Whatever the opposite of a silver lining is... we have to play again next year

In the offseason, the scrap heap will diminish.
