We're the favorites to land the first overall pick. Let's pray we land a blue chip guy whether it's Bosa or Williams, we can look back and say "2018 sucked but it was worth it now that we have ____"

Let get a sure fire FA ER and draft #1 ER and take risk HIGH RISK BUT SUPERB TALENT ER ( high risk high return deal ). My dream is we will find a much much better back up QB who can push Jimmy G and motivate ( good fear) and make each other better and better every year to come !!! Something like Joe and Steve dynamics. Ty guys. Love u all. Happy Evil Pumpkin day.
The Niners had no chance to draft Garret since the Browns were ahead of them. A better backup QB is way down the list of Niner needs and with 5 picks we would probably need to find him in free agency. Weak QB class anyway. No way we will ever see another Joe and Steve combo. Remeber there was no salary cap or free agency back then. No quality QB wants to sit behind another guy anymore.

This is my kind of thread! Sure, this team is going through some very tough times and has been for some time outside of the three NFC Championship game years a few years ago. But what are you going to do? Jump ship during these times of adversity? Are you going to switch your allegiance to another team when the going gets tough? I hope not. If you are a diehard fan and you feel the need to criticize this team, feel free - but hopefully, you can do so rationally with good points showing your knowledge of the game of football. And if you are one of those that really likes to criticize this team at every turn, are you ready to give credit where credit is due when this team turns things around under this regime (which will be as soon as next year in my opinion with people coming back healthy and some added key pieces via the draft, FA, and trades - I can definitely see a playoff run if so)?
The way I see it, of course these are extremely tough times right now for this team but I've seen this before over the last 40+ years...I believe in sticking with this team through the thick and thin...they will come "Roaring Back" (who gets that reference? hint: Lon Simmons), hopefully as soon as next year under Shanahan, Lynch, and the key piece above all others on the field, Garoppolo.

besides week 17 against the rams 3rd stringers, this is the most winnable game on our remaining schedule. We need to lose both.

Would prefer beating Seattle over the Raiders. Raiders will view it is a victory if they lose to us.

I don't think McVay lets that happen again. It was reported he'd made a comment along the lines of "never again" or some such in reference to playing the backups that allowed us to put big points on them. It really bothered him despite the fact that he was resting stars.

The smart approach has always been for a playoff bound team to play their starters for the first half of a meaningless Week 17 game, then sit them the 2nd half. See: 1994 49ers.

Yup I'm hoping it's different this year especially given the Rams had an early exit in last years playoffs so may be fearful of being caught sleeping (especially since they'll have a 1st rd bye so would be 2 weeks off).
