Let get a sure fire FA ER and draft #1 ER and take risk HIGH RISK BUT SUPERB TALENT ER ( high risk high return deal ). My dream is we will find a much much better back up QB who can push Jimmy G and motivate ( good fear) and make each other better and better every year to come !!! Something like Joe and Steve dynamics. Ty guys. Love u all. Happy Evil Pumpkin day.

I've been preaching this all season you are so right. We missed out on Garnett and the effects were horrendous. He already has eight sacks this year he is a game changer imagine if we actually had him. Kaepernick beat the Rams and I was so pissed that the Browns could not beat the Steelers with back ups.

Great screen name by the way James Bond kicks so much ass

If you are a diehard fan and you feel the need to criticize this team, feel free - but hopefully, you can do so rationally with good points showing your knowledge of the game of football. And if you are one of those that really likes to criticize this team at every turn, are you ready to give credit where credit is due when this team turns things around under this regime (which will be as soon as next year in my opinion with people coming back healthy and some added key pieces via the draft, FA, and trades - I can definitely see a playoff run if so)?

The way I see it, of course these are extremely tough times right now for this team but I've seen this before over the last 40+ years...I believe in sticking with this team through the thick and thin...they will come "Roaring Back" (who gets that reference? hint: Lon Simmons), hopefully as soon as next year under Shanahan, Lynch, and the key piece above all others on the field, Garoppolo.

Nice post, I would not even say that's positivity that's just reality. This year with Jimmy Garoppolo we are five wins and three losses at this point and in the wild-card hunt. So if we make any improvements whatsoever it's good news

😆. Thx so much bro. Picking even just 1 pick behind the other team who has the same need for particular position can be detrimental !! We don't want to miss out on Bosa, OLIVER , then settle for Ferrell, Gary, Sutton Smith, or Zach Allen,... !! NO NO NO

We want to trade down from #1 with QB needed teams ( about 3-6 of them this year) to gain multiple high picks ( this year or 2020) for WR, CB, OT, BUT STILL ABLE TO HAVE BOSA OR ED OLIVER.

BTW, when I perform prostate exam for my male patients with Dr No's GOLDEN FINGER I TOLD THEM: " It is still better than LICENSE TO KILL"

Yeah, we have to get ahead of the Raiders for that ER.

Um, we discuss tanking in another thread.

I think you need to adjust your expectations. Bosa is a possibility right now. Trading down for multiple high picks and still getting Bosa? No. I am not sure that Herbert is going to attract that much attention. Even if he does, that only drops Bosa, in all likelihood, to#2. If he is on the board when we pick let's not be too clever unless we are offered a kings ransom (which is incredibly unlikely).

Remember Rashaun!
Mods can we ban negative people from this thread? It's pretty much the only safe place in Niner talk now the coaches film thread is dying.

Silver lining is that artificially bad teams that hit on draft picks get better quickly.

Anyone who doesn't accept that losing your QB and RB for the season isn't a huge factor are idiots and can go complain elsewhere.

Exactly. This offseason will be pivotal for the turnaround, but really the 2020 season is where I see it potentially being do or die for Lynch/Shanahan. Next season I'll be happy at 9-7...maybe 8-8. 2020 though needs to be the year - 10-6 at a minimum.

Thanks, and I agree with what you said here. Keep the faith (goes without saying - I know we will )

Sorry man. jonnyd has gone off the grid and I have little motivation/curiosity to breakdown loss after loss after loss. It's like eating bread and water for years (Tomsula/Chip), then for 2 months eating steak/lobster (Jimmy G time), realizing you had been missing out on all this fine food that life has to offer, then having to go back to bread and water. It tastes worse than before you had the steak and lobster.

THL, I haven't posted in this forum for years. I just lurk and read...every day. I wanted to say how much I appreciate the time you, johnnyd, and maddog put into the content on this forum, it's second to none (no offense to Marvin49 whose threads are also great). The breakdowns you guys do are fascinating.

In an effort to get some content back in this forum that is worth reading instead of the daily troll posts, let me ask this: I have always learned more from the breakdowns you guys did on individual players rather than the overall "why we won/lost" or "offensive/defensive scheme" analysis. Would it be better than bread and water if you just did some player analysis and educated us on things like:

What does McGlinchy do that has him graded so highly? What could he get better at? Reasonable expectations?
What is wrong with Ahkello's game that has caused such regression?
How/why is Kittle having so much success? (IMO, he needs better hands before we crown him as much as we are. Gronk doesn't drop passes and neither did Brent Jones)
What happened with Colbert?
How has Fred Warner looked, the good and the bad? Future expectations?

If I were you, I wouldn't want to break down these losses either. My post would be the same every week; "We have too many injuries and not enough talent, but because of the offensive genius of our coach, we kept it close." But if you could enjoy doing player analysis, (can't spell analysis without anal!) I would certainly appreciate reading it, as would many others I suspect. If it's all bread and water, then F&*k it, i'll look forward to your posts in 2019.

For me personally, I enjoy breaking down scheme/plays more than players. Partly because I feel more confident talking about scheme than I do about player technique. I've done players before (Offseason all22 film thread), but I usually wait until the offseason where I can pick and choose games I think best show how the player is performing - games where they play against high level competition. I am interested in how Warner and Pettis do, since they are being relied upon as core players, so I may spotlight them at some point this coming offseason. We'll let Warner adjust and see how he does in the latter half of 2018, and let's hope Pettis gets on the field more.

Seconded

I feel you man, was just such a great thread, I've learned so much (and it's made me better at Madden!).

It can just be another thing to look forward to, the return of Jimmy, return of competitive football and return of the greatest thread on the net.
At least we have bragging rights with more wins than the Raiders?!
