And the fact your still a fan is a testament to your "die-hardness" 2004 was brutal and essentially an expansion team.

I was a fan way before this but man did I drink the Barlow Kool-Aid, just wrong
Oh the dark ages....That was the year I went to my first niner game too. It was at Quest field(at the time, now Century link field) in Seattle. I was so hopeful! Then we got curb stomped....38-0..... that was a tough walk back to the car....

But, does anyone notice that Andre Carter's on that poster twice?

one 98 is peterson, check the stash. Looks like carters 96 is folded over on the shoulder pad making it look like 98.

Yuck....that game that snapped the 420ish game shutout streak. I believe ken Dorsey got the start.

I think they actually got Julian Peterson on there twice. I think it's number 98.

Looked at it for awhile, its carter but his jersey is folded over looking like a 98. no indentation on the left side of the number (6) like the 8 has.

Along with his standard tape job.

With that team they just should've but Peterson a couple times and called it a poster ...of course if memory serves me Peterson missed like 10+ games in 2004 due to injury.

Yup and Yup...... I felt so robbed.... a friend of mine got me tickets to that game for my Bday and I was so excited to see my first live niners game.... Then to find out I was at the first game in - IIRC 26 years that we failed to score....

Now THAT was an offensive offense! I remember getting reamed by Seahawks fans at halftime because we didn't even have 100 yards of offense. Then, our kicker, whoever the crap he was - I blocked it out, missed a 48 yard field goal by clanking it off the crossbar. I was like, "Dude! You're an NFL kicker and you leave a 48 yard field goal short by a foot! GTFO!"

Good call! I didn't look close enough at it - it's like staring at the sun, you stare too long at it and it burns your eyes.

Don't feel too bad, my first ever niner game was in St. Louis in 1999. So I got to see the 17 game win streak vs the Rams snapped and the birth of the greatest show on turf. All I have to say is f**k you RW McQuarters, SOB gave up 4 td to Isaac Bruce.
I have been a fan since Super Bowl XXIV vs. the Broncos (1990). Seen a lot of great 49er teams over the years, and some bad ones. This is a great thread, there are a lot of moments and highlights that are awesome to relive and discuss.

The 2004 season was by far the worst to watch, that was the first year I had NFL Sunday Ticket and it was like torture watching all 16 games.

My first 49er game to attend was the 2008 season when they visited Dallas, Shaun Hill to Isaac Bruce baby!

The Cowboys beat up on the 49ers pretty bad, and it was a tough walk through the parking lot.

But regardless if they win or lose, I will always be a faithful fan and continue to bleed Red and Gold.
I was watching caught in the draft of 94 and 95 and how the Niners had 4 rookies start for them in 94 which helped them win the SB but many blame the 95 draft as their downfall because they drafted Stokes over Sapp and traded their 96 first round pick and missed out on Ray Lewis.

The 1995, 1996 & 1997 drafts were brutal. However, at the time jj stokes was looked at as a bold move and another weapon to the offense. He was extremely productive at ucla. TO is the only redeeming thing about 1996 and the 1997 draft only consisted of 3 guys. It's to little surprise that they poor drafts and salary cap kicked our ass in 1999 and 2000.

You think the 49ers weren't prepared for free agency when it began in the 90s?

Think it hurt them?
When I look at the drafts from '95 to '04, it blows my mind that people complain about Baalke's drafts. In all that time, for 10 drafts, they got Terrell Owens in '96, Julian Peterson in '00, Andre Carter in '01, Sopoaga and Andy Lee in '04. During that period, they drafted Rashaun Woods, Isreal Ifeanyi, RW McQuarters, Druckenmiller, Reggie McGrew, Mike Rumph and Kwame Harris with their first picks. YIKES! That's just horrible.
