Thanks, thl408, I can't wait to have Bowman back. Your post gives even greater insight into his accomplishments that play. Amazing football prowess.

We had a great goal-line stand with Mooch back in 2001 against the Eagles. I believe they ran 7 or 8 plays inside our 5-yard line (got a fresh set of downs after defensive holding). Derek "Cyclops" Smith picked off McNabb in the endzone. That was epic!

The 99-yard TD was back in 1995 iirc. Against the Bills. I think it was Gary Plummer that crushed Thurman Thomas right at the goalline, and then Lee Woodall scooped up the fumble and raced 99 yards for the score.

Great explanations of both stands.

uhhhh..... 81 super bowl vs the bengals anyone? Dan Bunz?

This is the correct answer, if you just need to pick one.

Also, let's not underestimate the one that happen vs philly this year. That was a big win at that point in the season.

Not just because it was the SB and I was there, but because it was against probably the best OL that year with HOF Anthony Munoz & All Pro Max Montoya and the biggest & one of the baddest RBs in the game back then in Johnson. The guy was monster big. Plus their QB was having an all-pro year too. It would be like stopping the Seahawks with Marshawn Lynch or Steelers with Jerome Bettis at the 1-2 yard line. Plus all the momentum had gone over to the Bengals and it almost looked like it was just destined to end in heartbreak. I just remember Archie Reese pumping his fists as he's pushing the pile back facing backwards. Just magical game, magical year.

The Philly game stand is probably the 2nd best since the BS penalty gave the Eagles another set of downs and Plummer just whacked the RB so hard. The 49ers were big underdogs that year.

was it a mess getting to the stadium that day,, if i recall they had a ice storm. that was a terrible winter in 1982 and i just recall everyone at home watching, still may be one of the highest rated super bowls of all time

actually i seem to recall a big game we had in the mooch days, when we held held a team on first and goal from the one,,, they then got a fresh set of downs and had a brand new first and goal from the one. if i recall someone knocked the ball loose and one of our linebackers ran 99 yards for the 7.... now that was a long time ago and i may have my facts all messed up but i really recall something like this??

I think it was against the Bills, Lee Woodall on the return...maybe.

Huge mess, we were stuck in the hotel the whole time till it was time to take our bus. It was a last second deal so we had no winter clothes and not alot of of money to buy any because I was a senior in highschool. My buddies had to front me the cash just to get there. We had barely been able to pay the $120 for the season tickets, let alone the playoff tickets and then this expense. I have no idea what Detroit looks like because it was all buried in snow. But in the end, that goal line stand, was up there with The Catch when it happened.

Yes,, thank you to all the good posters who helped me remember, funny i could not remember how it all went down and the exact gamest but i recall the epic game in 76 with us and the cardinals who had the best o line in the game at the time and we had the best d line at the time, we won to go 6-1 and were a super bowl team then willie mcgee got hurt, funny how i remember that but got all mixed up on more recent events
