One...as mentioned what Jerry used might not have been the substance known as stickum. But it might have. Two, there is a significant difference between cheating the same way everyone else is to keep up vs doing something that gives you a distinct advantage.

Now if a few top WRs from the 80s and 90s come out and say "f**k no, I never used that stuff" Then I'll be quite willing to say that Rice gets a *. As much as I love him, he does. Even if he didn't use it for his whole career.

NSW he used drugs. Cheating is cheating. Rice cheated but the issue here is will NE be fined docked picks and Bellicheck and Brady get suspended just as Goodell did to NO? Jerry has admitted cheating now he's retired. NE got caught! It's time for penalties

Right, but how do fines or repercussions have any relevance to the discussion at all? This is about morality. Saying "they were caught" or "he didn't get caught, he admitted it later" is just semantics. Like you said, cheating is cheating.

Everything. Cheating must be punished. No shredding of Spygate footage. No buddy politics here. Punish NE just like NO. They were caught cheating. Jerry wasn't. He can't be punished. NE can. Everyone cheats at some time but if caught they need punishment! We all speed but if caught we should be ticketed

Nope..I had no idea. That said, I'm still not sure what he used was truly stickum. Everything was called Stickum back then...but it wasn't. There was a spray that was more of a tact spray. Not saying that's what Rice used..but I don't think it was illegal because it wasn't "Stickum" even though it was called stickum at the time. It was more of a tacky spray than something that made the ball stick to your hands like real stickum did. It didn't leave a residue after you touched the ball.

Having played with that back then and today's gloves..I'd chose today's WR's gloves in a heartbeat.

But if he used real stickum, he cheated.

I realize that, but from a morality standpoint it doesn't make a difference. Just because Rice wasn't caught or punished does not somehow make what he did more acceptable. Again, it's just semantics at that point.

I didn't know about the drugs..but I know he admitted to putting bounties on players.

Cris Carter says he didn't use it. That doesn't mean he didn't use it. Nolan Ryan said he didn't use steroids.

Besides, look at the rule - making your gloves more tacky isn't against the rule as it is written. It's in a gray area.

i continue to say this. jerry is a f**king moron for saying anything in the first place. whatever happens to his legacy is his own doing. obviously other receivers will come out and say they didnt' do it. they are not that f**king dumb even though cris carter is a moron in other ways. what really sucks about this is that when arguing with friends i dont know how to combat this asterisk.

No sense in arguing with anyone about Rice. All you really have to say is "scoreboard!" Whine all they want - the records are still Rice's.
