Jerry Rice did what?!?!?!

Jerry should have kept quiet.
The stuff JR used probably looked like a can of PAM and sprayed a tiny spritz onto his gloves. He probably did it on the sideline, didn't hide the can that probably didn't belong to him because it was for team use like a can of shaving cream in the locker room.

Believing that, I also believe the term "stickum" became the adopted term for any of this stuff like Xerox means a copy or Coke means cola. I can't believe someone on television would be so loose with these details and timing. So the headlines all jump to linking deflated footballs to stickum when they are miles apart. The NFL conducts an investigation for deflated footballs with discipline repercussions pending their findings. The NFL knew about tacifying spray, did nothing and allowed the continuance of its widespread use. How can any rational, non ratings grabbing, retweet hungry person entertain the notion that these actions are the same thing?

It's the first bit of football insight Jerry has offered that anyone has taken seriously. So he's got that going for him.

Jerry Rice stupid enough to piss on his own legacy. Cris Carter is licking his chops
He probably regrets opening up that can of worms. Should've just let sleeping dogs lie.

And now, don't all the Nike clothes comes with a built-in sticky exterior anyhow? And the newer they are, the stickier they are. So these WR's probably use new gloves each game. Also, what about Kurt Warner. Didn't the sticky gloves give him an unfair advantage over QB's who don't use the gloves? It's all really odd but I can understand the hypocrisy angle esp. when it comes from his own mouth and AFTER his comments about the Pats.

This story is so freaking dumb. He was using glove gel, like every receiver uses nowadays. It doesn't mean his legacy is tarnished, absolute non story as was deflate gate.
Florio is trying to act like the spray is the same tar sh*t they used in the 70s when players gloves and uniforms were covered in it.

WRs use new gloves every game and some even change every half because nothing is as sticky as brand new gloves which get sprayed at the factory. Its 6-in-1… Jerry is still an idiot for even providing this fuel to the haters.

What he also did was to provide another distraction away from Goodell not punishing NE if they are proved guilty. It doesn't take this long to settle deflategate. Either they did or didn't. They will just wait right before the NFL draft then say it didn't happen. It will quickly blow over because the draft will take top billing

Yes he is!
This is what happens when you speak before you think. And if Jerry did think before opening his mouth, he's an idiot. What a dumb thing to bring up now.
He was all about the yac stick em didn't help there. But what a stupid thing to admit to

I've held the gloves they use, with the logo on the palm. Boldin gave a kid his when I was standing right next to him when I had sideline passes for a game. I asked the kid if I could hold one, you wouldn't believe how tacky theses things are. And these were old enough to give away I couldn't imagine them when they are new. Jerry just needed to think before he spoke and speak even less in the aftermath. He should have a publicist review everything he says in a public forum going forward.

And then the hypocritical statement about the patriots? It's like he didn't even know what he admitted. Like it was common knowledge and in this hyper sensitive environment what the repercussions would be. He regrets it now but the damage is done. I've always thought his commentary was dry, I can't imagine what it will be like going forward.
