Are you trying to call me a bandwagon fan? Lol. I was born in 1985, so no, I don't remember the 80's. I also can't tell you when or why I became a fan but i could spend days telling you why I love this team. I was born and grew up just outside of Philly. All my family members are big time NFC East fans. I grew up watching a whole lot of football and sometime during my early, early childhood years I became a fan of this franchise. Like I said, I don't remember when but I know it was well before 1994 and I still remember being pissed off at them replacing Joe Montana. In fact I still to this day can't stand Steve Young but I do respect him and what he did for this franchise. All I'm saying is that those teams of the 80's and 90's are long gone and have no bearing on the present. In the relative present, the only team to give us a headache consistently is Seattle and so that is where my resentment lies.

During the season I root against my division first and foremost. Once the playoffs start and we aren't in it I pull for the team with the least number of Lombardi trophies. Yes I hate SEA as much as anyone but they aren't threatening our legacy all time as a one time champ. Regular season I wanted DAL NYG and GB to beat SEA but come playoff time I rooted for SEA vs any of those teams. That's just the way I think. A lot of my friends are PIT GB DAL NYG fans. None of them pull for us because we got five chips

Seattle going back to back in the cap era wouldve armed their moronic fans with enough ammo to talk crap for the next 20 years.

The Seahawks players and fans as a whole are THE most obnoxious, arrogant, classless, and fairweather organization in sports.

They showed us ZERO respect. They talk crap about us on TV and on social media. They threw food on NaVorro Bowman when he was being carted out. They ate turkey on our logo. They have done SO many classless things, even though we always take the high road afterwards.

I cannot respect them in any way for the way they act. I wanted nothing more than to see them fall on their face in the Super Bowl. Karma caught up to them, and it was awesome. Nothing quite like justice.

As a lifelong 49er fan, I hated watching them do and say all those things to our organization, only to be rewarded with ridiculous luck.

It wouldve been nice if the Colts couldve won it all and eliminated both the Pats and Seahawks, but as far as im concerned, the "Montana or Brady?" ship has sailed. Brady already crapped the bed in the SB, so Montana won.

Above all else I just didnt want Seattle to get away with all the arrogance and disrespect. The excruciatingly painful way they lost was fantastic. Their fans and their players had it coming.

Im not calling you a fake fan, I just cant see any scenario in which I would pull for Seattle to win after what theyve done.

I just don't respect SEA as a franchise so them winning it all after we were out never caused me to flinch. I am pretty pleased they lost for the reasons you've outlined but NE gained ground on us as a general consensus. Not in my book but general sentiment is that they have. I can live with that now because I know SEA has to deal with the aftermath and this can only aid us in our Quest for 6 and if we get it done this will trump all. You are right about SEA. I just think they are a joke and are a prime example of acting like you haven't been there before. It is really despicable the nuthugging the media has done for them too despite SEA behavior. We've been shat upon while they've been praised. There is an obvious media bias towards the 49ers. NYG fans were pulling for SEA vs us because they didn't want us celebrating at MetLife
Mike florio continues his mindless and defamatory tirade against jerry. Time for the lawyers soon.
Man we got this thread way off track dudes. Like some have said it wasn't stickum and I'm sure Jerry wasn't alone. Most of all he didn't get caught.

obviously didn't succeed very well in his chosen profession. flunked libel 101. if he worked for District Attorney's Office and file charges every time somebody talked about a crime he'd be out on his butt and looking for another job in no time.

wait a minute...

Rice saying this just gave Cris Carter the ammo he needed to push the agenda he has his whole career. He's been trying to secretly get people to believe that he was as good or better than Rice because he never played with the type of talent Rice did for the majority of his career, yet put up HOF numbers in spite of that.

He's clinging to this stickum story from Rice and no doubt hopes Florio keeps poking at it to possibly get people to re-examine Rices career so it elevates his. As stated before in this thread, Carter was a good, HOF worthy WR, but not nearly as good as HE thinks he was. Revisionists history at its finest. Maybe if him and Irvin could've left them substances alone, they too might not have the regrets of wasting time and talent partying so goddam much.

Hey man when we don't make it you got to pick your poison. Would you have preferred Seattle repeating?

Yep. Then the week could have been good for both guys. 5>2

Any 49er fan who was pulling for the Seahawks in that SB is NOT a real 49er fan. Pure and simple.

Oh yes like you decide who a real and fake 49er fan is. I hate clown statements like this. You could've pulled for whoever you wanted to. It had no bearing whatsoever on your fandom.

How someone can be a 49er fan, and then pull for the Seahawks to win a championship, after all they have done to disrespect our organization, is beyond me.

49ers fans who pull for the Seahawks, or Giants fans who pull for the Dodgers clearly arent plugged in to what it means to be a fan of that team. Thats all im saying.

After everything the Seahawks have said about our team, if someone can still get behind them in any way, maybe that person isnt that into the Niners..

Giants and Dodgers has been a rivalry going on since the late 1800s and has featured names such as Mays, Koufax, Thompson, Robinson, McCovey, Posey, Bumgarner, Kershaw and many more. Hawks 49ers has been going since 2011 and has featured Kap, Sherm, Crabtree, Wilson, and others who are far less accomplished than those previously mentioned. I hate the Seahawks and was happy they lost, but at the end of the day they're just as much a rival as the Rams or Cardinals IMO. Maybe when sustained hate is built, but as of right now it already looks like this rivalry is sizzling down.
So, Rice basically admitted to using a product that was then banned, but now these current gloves are pretty much even better than stickum. Don't see an issue here
why is this still being discussed ?

This. Gloves today are highly tacified, so all recent recievers have an advantage over those recievers in the past. Nobody seems to mention that. This will not lessen Rice's legacy. Before the 80's no recievers used gloves. You could say anyone who uses gloves is a cheater. The whole thing is ridiculous.

You don't? Cheating isn't an issue? Art Monk wasn't allowed to use Stickem, and he didn't have the modern gloves today's receivers use.

What I want to know is what Rice meant by "stickem." Did he mean the actual product? Or was that just a general term players used for sprays (some of which are legal) like people say a "band aid" for bandages.
