Pretty sure it's the latter, catch-all term.

Hey man when we don't make it you got to pick your poison. Would you have preferred Seattle repeating?

Yep. Then the week could have been good for both guys. 5>2

Any 49er fan who was pulling for the Seahawks in that SB is NOT a real 49er fan. Pure and simple.

Oh yes like you decide who a real and fake 49er fan is. I hate clown statements like this. You could've pulled for whoever you wanted to. It had no bearing whatsoever on your fandom.

How someone can be a 49er fan, and then pull for the Seahawks to win a championship, after all they have done to disrespect our organization, is beyond me.

49ers fans who pull for the Seahawks, or Giants fans who pull for the Dodgers clearly arent plugged in to what it means to be a fan of that team. Thats all im saying.

After everything the Seahawks have said about our team, if someone can still get behind them in any way, maybe that person isnt that into the Niners..

Giants and Dodgers has been a rivalry going on since the late 1800s and has featured names such as Mays, Koufax, Thompson, Robinson, McCovey, Posey, Bumgarner, Kershaw and many more. Hawks 49ers has been going since 2011 and has featured Kap, Sherm, Crabtree, Wilson, and others who are far less accomplished than those previously mentioned. I hate the Seahawks and was happy they lost, but at the end of the day they're just as much a rival as the Rams or Cardinals IMO. Maybe when sustained hate is built, but as of right now it already looks like this rivalry is sizzling down.

As long as the Seahawks keep spitting in our face, it doesnt matter how long weve been rivals.

And you just argued that the rivarly has only been going on since 2011, yet the last 3 Giants/Dodgers names you mentioned have only been around in recent years.

Seattle has done enough disrespecting of our organization in the last 3 years to solidify sworn enemy treatment.

As of right this momeny, regardless of how long the rivarly has been on, the Seahawks should get just as much hate from our fans as the Dodgers do.

He's been trying to secretly get people to believe that he was as good or better than Rice because he never played with the type of talent Rice did for the majority of his career, yet put up HOF numbers in spite of that.

He's clinging to this stickum story from Rice and no doubt hopes Florio keeps poking at it to possibly get people to re-examine Rices career so it elevates his. As stated before in this thread, Carter was a good, HOF worthy WR, but not nearly as good as HE thinks he was. Revisionists history at its finest. Maybe if him and Irvin could've left them substances alone, they too might not have the regrets of wasting time and talent partying so goddam much.

Bingo!

Jerry was the GOAT but he's never been very bright.

He gave his foes and ours the seeds of doubt.

Hey Jerry - stay off of TV and out of the media - you're a damn dunce! Keep your trap shut.

You don't? Cheating isn't an issue? Art Monk wasn't allowed to use Stickem, and he didn't have the modern gloves today's receivers use.

What I want to know is what Rice meant by "stickem." Did he mean the actual product? Or was that just a general term players used for sprays (some of which are legal) like people say a "band aid" for bandages.

You can't spray real stickum. It's a goop that must be spread like butter. He used the prewrap adhesive spray that everyone used on their gloves in the 80's and 90's. BTW, Carter's and Irvin's lying coked-out asses wore the same gloves, and they played in the rain, so they used the same spray. Those gloves were slick as hell in the rain if you didn't use the spray. Only reason Florio's dumb ass doesn't know what a stupid storyline he's chasing, is because he's never done anything with a football but sit on it.

Pretty much all of this....and just for the record, the only Rice contemporary that I thought had a chance to challenge Jerry was sterling sharpe. Even still, sterling was a tier below. Carter is a pompous ass and Irv is a coked out piece of trash that I'm surprised stopped sucking off dallas long enough to share an opinion.

WE can feel the love and appreciation with every jerry bashing post.

Do we hold all our 49er hall of famers to the same standard? They all have to be einsteins to satisfy the webzone?

It's a little ridiculous we dont appreciate what they have done for us on the field and leave it at that.

Seriously, where does this attitude come from?

Jerry can open his yap all he wants. Thanks for the Super Bowls Jerry. Steve At water sends his appreciation.

Bunch of jackasses on this thread.

No, because the rule has been changed. Also, these gloves they are using right now, is better than illegal stickem back in the day, spray, or any other product WRs used.

"I definitely think it's a huge advantage for receivers," said Kurt Warner, a quarterback in three Super Bowls who now appears on the NFL Network. "You see all these one-handed catches, and guys snagging balls, and you say, `Whoa, that's almost impossible.' It slows the spin on the ball."

"It's more grippier. It gets the ball down quicker," Mesko said.

"They make your job a little easier," New York Jets tight end Dustin Keller said. "We all could catch the ball without gloves, but with the grip on the gloves and with them somewhat serving as a layer of protection, I think wearing gloves is a no-brainer."

This wouldn't change my mind at all about Rice, or any other player that used it back then, Centers even used stickem.

And if we switch sports, I don't think anybody else would feel differently about Nolan Ryan, or whoever for using pine tar, when so many other pitchers did as well.
stickem didnt help him out run, out route or out class DBs all goddamn day. this is such a non story its ridiculous

I got a relative that played pro ball he grew up right up the street from where I grew up. My grandfather whipped my a$$ and his too. He doesn't live there anymore nor do I but I just saw his momma this past weekend. I'm going to have her ask him about it because he was a DB in the early 80s. I will try and get to the bottom of this because I think all position groups sprayed up those gloves

Yup, those old gloves were pure garbage in the rain w/out the spray. They got honest-to-God slippery, like they were worse than bare hands. Yet, all the pro WRs who wore gloves also wore them in the rain and snow. Hmmmm...

Just a couple pety wannabe GOATs trying to pull our man down, and one desk jockey who's never caught a football in his life, but needs to farm clicks in the offseason.

True. I ain't going home for a few weeks to see my momma and grandmother but I will have my momma text his a$$ about this mess. I am pretty sure this is a whole lotta nothing. And I know he wore gloves. Looks like most of em did
