welp, take his name off the record books...

so who is 2nd all time in most records?

and the NEEEEEEEEEEEEWWWW ALL TIME GREATEST RECIVER OF ALLS TIMEZ!!!

TO is one of the most underrated players of all time. Based on how much he's accomplished and the little respect he recieves. According to the record books he is among the top 3 greatest WRs of all time along with Rice and Moss.

Great receiver. Terrible teammate. Attention whore. Emotionally unstable.

The media loved him. Always good for a story.

True. But he always stayed clean and other than his mouth getting him in scuffles he was always reliable. For some reason he just didn't get a free pass from the media like Chad Johnson, Randy Moss, and Brandon Marshall.

I do not know what Jerry Rice actually said about his use of stick'em during this playing days.

One thing is becoming clear. Steve Young, Joe Montana, and Jerry Rice are no longer football players. They seem to be talking heads.

They were excellent football players. I do not think that they are all that good at being talking heads.

edit: just say Charles Haley's comments about Tom Brady.

Dang, guys either start thinking or stop talking.

Stickum, as I understand it, left a nasty residue on the ball. I remember reading years ago about the refs complaining about the state of the balls during Raiders games.

I don't understand this comment. Had Rice been using stickum the officials would have known and he would have been thrown out.

And if you watch him, he wasn't doing stickum receptions. They basically consisted of sticking your palms out and letting the stickum do the work. Rice caught the ball and with a perfect technique.

So I don't understand.

He also stated that he only had it on his gloves. How often did Rice even wear gloves?

True but Rice wore gloves regularly. From my understanding it is a gray area because it was on the gloves but it wasn't enough to get the substance on the ball which would have been a rules violation. I'm sure a lot of receivers did it although most will not admit it. Rice's usage of stickum was nothing light Fred Biletnikoff's usage of stickum. But the bad part is the comments will fuel the haters.
I like how PFT has to use the headline "Jerry Rice admits to cheating." He didn't actually use the word cheat only said he may have illegally used stick'em, but everyone else did it. Who gives a s**t.
Dissapointing but I won't lose sleep over it.
Seahawks or Pats implicated in doing something illegal/against the rules to gain unfair advantage and everyone here is all up in arms.

Jerry Rice admits he used to do something illegal/against the rules to gain unfair advantage and it is OK because everyone else does it.

No bias here.

Well, if everyone else was doing it, how is it an unfair advantage?

And it surprises you to find bias in a team supporters forum?
Hmm, I wonder what John Taylor was doing back then -- amphetamines? Jerry Rice always said Taylor never truly worked hard at his craft and filled his body with junk food during the season...
Jerry also did a lot of other things that make the stickum use irrelevant. For example the hardest trainee ever. So as i said before who really cares. Jesus cited for jaywalking. Sorry pro consul i was in a hurry to cure the lepers. Didnt have time for the crosswalk.

DB's as well. Lester Hayes from the Raiders was known to be draped in stickum which is why it was ultimately outlawed. Here's a usual Sunday uniform look for Lester in 1980 the year before it was ruled illegal. That brown on his uniform isn't spilled coffee btw.

this guys 1980 season. 13 picks in reg season and 5 in the playoffs. best season i've ever seen from a cb.

DPOY too I believe in that year. Hayes was one of the best CBs in the 80s hands down. Don't hear his name as much tho. The stickum is probably unfairly part of that because it was legal when he used it also he was still one of the best CBs even after he stopped with the stickum.
