Sir... The 49ers have only had 5 winning seasons in the last 15 years. So for 10 years I watched awful pathetic and embarrassing football. Sorry if I have other things to do beside watch a train wreck week after week.

Spoken like a true fan
By that logic any team under .500 should go bankrupt

The vets retiring says a lot more about how they feel about our coaches. If they felt we still had a shot you know damn well these guys would still play.

When Patrick Willis and Justin Smith say they are retiring because they are not pleased with the 49ers coaches or front office, I will believe them.

No use pretending we know something that we do not know.

Players dont retire for wanting out, they demand trades

Unless, they're in the twilight of their careers and believe their windows have closed.

Buck, sometimes you have to read between the lines.

Since when is 30 "the twilight" for a 7 time Pro Bowl ILB?

Sometimes all that's between the lines is fiction.

30 is the "twilight" for a LB who has notched as many tackles as Willis. That's a LOT of hits.

Willis has his money, his wife, and a lot to his name. It's safe to say he's going to find as much success off the field as he does on it.

It's a wise decision.

I don't argue that at all....I just don't think the coaching change tips the balance. This is about a lot more than the coach.

Definition of fairweather fan. It's your right, but that's the very definition.

Justin Smith: Decision on future "not 100 percent"

Justin Smith today said he hasn't "100 percent" decided on his status for the 2015 season. The 49ers' veteran defensive lineman has another year remaining on his contract but is contemplating retirement.

"I'm going to decide by next week probably," Smith said. "So you'll know by then. It's not 100 percent."

The 14-year NFL veteran gave that quote between intervals of running up the side of Spartan Stadium on the San Jose State campus. Smith's rigorous workout regimen, which has included sessions at the 49ers facility, had encouraged some team officials that Smith perhaps would return for a 15th season.

Oh, dang. Justin has spoken and he seems to think that he has not made a decision, yet.

Clearly, Justin Smith is confused.

I guess that he forgot to ask our local trolls for his latest thoughts.

he needs to have a set down with verbs nephew aka moses,, then he can give that message to uncle verb aka god who can then relay it to us

I am reading both the lines and between the lines.

There seems to little doubt that some posters are pretending that they know more than they can possibly know.

Justin Smith knows Justin Smith better than the great pretenders do.

Now, you read between the lines. What exactly do you think I am telling you?

You guys are CRAZY if you think that Willis would have still retired with Harbaugh as our coach.
this piece of s**t cannot replace a legend

Then you obviously have better things to do instead of posting here

speculation. how do you know this for sure. till he says it, i will take him at his word whenever he comes out of the closet to discuss it. i think its his church or toe or both.
Holy sheet it made the front page of CNN.

CNN Front Page
I don't think that's fair weather at all, recognizing that our ownership group have actually only had 5 winning seasons in 16 years is a pattern an they have been a disaster. It's was when Jed an the yorks were at their least powerful when we thrived.

They couldn't get rid of JH early when they were trying to get a stadium an he was winning early so JH was able to overrule them an project his personality onto the team. Now it's back to business, if we lose Torey Smith , it's because the top of our organization has more leaks than the U.S. infrastructure. As pointed out earlier

So are the other players not retiring because they're glad Harbaugh is gone?

would you like to cherry pick the dozens of great plays he made when he was the starter? well probably not because that would ruin your nice little narrative you got going on

Hard to replace a legend. Expect him to be good but not as good as Willis.
