To me it seemed like Pat was lacking passion the last few years. He wasn't the same. Maybe it was the toe but it sure seemed more like heart. This all makes sense now. Seems like the same issue with Vern.

Yeah, the debunk, NFLN noted that not only was his toe still jacked up, his other foot was too. He came back and tried to work out here and the body didn't respond. He didn't feel he could get back to 100%.

Also, like the Browns inquiring about Harbaugh, "another teams called and inquired about CK" and Baalke shut it down instantly. He didn't even entertain it. But someone leaked out that story. Do we have mole in-house?

It actually seemed like the arrival of Bowman brought on the decline of Pat. Like he wasn't "the guy" anymore and didn't care to be. There was "fire" missing from his play. Those toe injuries suck. I dealt with a more minor turf toe and it took almost a year to get over it. Pat has always been brittle (broken bones) so the fact that he has had trouble recovering doesn't surprise me. I wish him the best. He's a good man and he's walking away while he can for the right reasons. Can't blame him one bit. He doesn't need to answer to anyone but his teammates and if they are cool with it, so am I.

Watching Frank go is like watching Ronnie and Roger walk. Joe too. It broke my heart but we needed to move on.

Totally agree!
i was mad when joe left but not for sentimental reasons, i thought young did not have what it took to win big games and never changed my mind either, super bowl 94 be damned,, did not care when craig left cuz he had lost it, lott bothered me but i got over it. we knew this day would come,,,, even though it still sounds like gore, country and willis are all still in play,, so move on, weed out the bandwagoners and get ready for a new year and a fresh start

I think the wilhoite comes off the trade blocks and the combo of him and Borland plus the 7 mil in cap space we get to spend some place else will be able to replace Willis. We should be able to sign a really good corner or use our first round pick on a stud DE or OLB to make up the short fall. It's not just what we're losing. Getting Borland time to get his 10 tackles a game is important and saving 7 mil at the Ted spot is important!

He was tendered on Friday. He's not going anywhere.

truth is our offense can only get better. Iupati will be replaced And upgraded. He was a bruiser but bad in pass protection. Our defense will be fine. Still has major talent. this year without gore I doubt carlos will be a downgrade to what frank would have done. Torrey smith will make our offense better just with being a deep threat you have to account for so you can't just stack the box. Chryst will not be any worse than Roman period. As for harbaugh he could never make second half adjustments and was a great rah rah guy. Tomsula can be a great rah rah guy too. If we can make second half adjustments I have no doubts we can be better. Not to mention carlos and kaepernick both excelled in the pistol....

Bowman, sad to say but don't expect the same bowman. That leaves us with trying to make a splash free agency wise and draft, let's get there but to say we won't skip a beat next year? That would be reaching at this point.

We lost pro bowlers from last year? Former pro bowlers?

Gore, Justin and Willis?

Gore and Justin alone brings something to the table that if lost, whether it's being their time or not is a huge loss. In the locker room and on the field. I don't think skip a beat is my chose of words when you lose these 2 alone. One would think losing them would hurt a team.

I think Justin's work ethic will be a big loss (b/c he works out at our facilities and Gore works out in Miami). Gore's vocal leadership, for sure! We just have to keep perspective here...we can replace their production no problem...and somewhere, a long time ago, they got their shot too and became the leaders we know today. Let's hope Hyde and Tank/Dockette/Dial, etc. step up and take the reigns!

Baalke has been preparing for this day to come. We already have or are set to acquire all the replacements for the guys we lost, and some of them are better than who we lost.

Frank Gore - He will be replaced with a tandem of Hyde and Hunter (if hunter can recover from the injury) I firmly believe that even if we just had Hyde, it will be a slight improvement in speed and stamina. We will lose a team leader, but whos to say Carlos cant step into that role until he has the chance to?

Justin Smith - He wasnt great by any means last year, and we have Dockett coming in to help solidify the d line.

Patrick Willis - I can confidently say that Borland is better than Pat right now. Pat was obviously better in his prime, but right now is what counts, and what Borland did last year was spectacular.

Michael Crabtree - Bringing in Torrey Smith will be a HUGE upgrade over Crabtree, who most of us are ready to let go of.

Jim Harbaugh and Staff - Jim & staff are seriously the only loss that im not confident we have replaced with equal or better talent, but i have to hold judgement until i see Tomsulas staff perform.

This big time. I have been posting this all along for the whole day. Tank will be a better pass rusher than ray Mac anyway. He had 3 sacks in the final 3 games. Mac has never come close to that.

The only downgrade I see is at cb. Cully and cox. We have to resign at least one of them. Aside from that we are good, lost some depth but at least wilhoite is here at ilb and hopefully brooks or skua stay
Honestly I'm not worried from a talent perspective but more leadership, baalke has drafted for this moment.

I'm much more of this thought process! Bowmann said it best when he was cleared to practice last.... he felt the defense had lost it's edge. He didn't call anyone specific person out, but not having vocal leaders in the huddle. Leadership is huge and one of the reasons I felt we targeted Dockett and went after him.... dudes a beast and vocal. I'm thinking someone is going to step up.... Dorsey/Dial/Tank/Bowmann. It will be different and I think that landscape scares us all the most. Gotta give these young guys the chance to face the fire like Borland had to last year. I am cautiously optimistic and the good stuff starts tomorrow.... HOPEFULLY!!

I like Tank as a pass rusher, but what I've seen in the run game concerns me. I'm not sold he can start at 3-4 DE. If he cleans up his technique and gets more stout, sure, but as of now he's more like a 3rd down pass rushing specialist.

Thinking we target a solid starting CB in FA or #15..... IF we get T. Smith!

What concerns me the most is that Seattle just extended Lynch and we have NO J Smith..... PERIOD!!!!
Lil Jed got his new stadium. That's what he cared about. Now nothing matters to him. Wins, losses, whatever. He knows no matter what he does, what ever decisions he makes people will still come. They will still pay high prices and come to games. No matter how unhappy we fans are. No matter how terrible the team looks. Jed still got what he wanted.
People talk so much crap about Jerry Jones. I'm not a fan myself of his. But I can atleast say he tries to win. No matter how dumb he looks at times or how terrible of a GM he is but in his own Looney way he at least trys.
