You can see Coyle throw his arms up as if things aren't adding up. Day was actually lined up as a 3t which left a huge bubble gap(s). Then Day moved to 0t when Coyle motioned him over. I think this is on Colbert though. He has the best seat in the house and needs to do a sanity check whenever players run on/off the field.
Coyle put up the red flag but it looks like Foster said screw this, I'm going in, cover me. Coyle sorta gave up after that.

Ha! That's exactly how I saw it. Foster is a beast, he will be the best LB in the league within two years (as long as he isn't suspended or in jail!).

I do find it concerning no time-out was called, either the coaching staff weren't communicating properly or the players don't have the power to do it. Should have been a big gain or a TD.

Thoughts? His criticism validated?

Haha...I did put that play in the concept thread though in Feb of 2016

1981 - "FB Slip"
Here's Joe first career super bowl touchdown pass. On this play you have a little double slant action with the twin forms. The FB fakes a block and then slips into the vacated flat.

I think highly of Cosell so if he says it then it must be, at the very least, somewhat true. I don't play close attention to QB mechanics when I watch film so I can't speak confidently about it. If it looks incredibly terrible then I may notice it, otherwise I'm watching for other things when I watch film.

The team up of Kyle and Jimmy is going to really - I think - create a big shift or change in the paradigms the NFL generally operates under, perhaps almost as great as how Walsh's ideas impacted the NFL in the 80's and 90's. Kyle has some unique offensive ideas that I think the NFL hasn't seen and you match that with Jimmy's incredible passing ability, it's going to blow the NFL's collective mind this year.
Agree, Giedi, I have written similarly. The NFL is not ready for a kyle Shanahan when gifted with a spectacular QB. And anyone saying "homer" is right, but there is no other way to describe those last 5 full games of JImmyG. And the comparison to Walsh is exactly what i have suggested ...paired with Joe. It wasn't going to happen with any "joe". It had to be THAT one. Put those two together and you have the same incr in "goodness", or "best ness" or "spectacular ness" you see with kyle and JG. I firmly believe that is no exaggeration. We had seen kyle sweat out the first 9 games, and somehow he came really close in 5 consecutive ones we lost by 3pts or less. (Less than 3 pts overall for 5 games). So even tho we had seen his brilliance at his former 3 stops, we saw it in action here with not much in the line of talent. (Consider we will have virtually 51 players this yr that were not here when he first arrived just a mere 16 months ago). But he has talent galore now in JimmyG, plus he has added to the bells and whistles for QBs, au jus, Pettis, a speed burning RB in Jet with nice hands, a nice bevy of WRs, and nice TEs. Also upgraded big time at C and RT to go with steady Joe at LT. Sure OGs remain a ???? But since JL and kyle ducked OG in early draft, one has to believe they know something about our OGs that we don't. I believe that also.

The league admires kyle for his playcalling, his game planning. True. The league recognizes Jimmy for his qb Skills. True. But i don't think any of them understand what is coming from pairing them. This is 1 + 1 = 7. And that is what the NFL is about to learn.

I know you are worried about the Guards, but I think Richburg enables Kyle to operate with more man blocking Guards than otherwise beacause of Richburg's talents. Now you can mix the zone blocking with man trap blocking in the same offensive line scheme. Pretty neat if Kyle can pull that off.

There's been a tremendous amount of rules changes since 2012 - in terms of tackling and defenseless players and so on, and I think the innovation will be in that area. Somehow, I think Kyle will come up with concepts that stress those rules changes and make his offense (hopefully) unstoppable. Then you add Jimmy's super quick release on top of that, and I'm really excited about this upcomming season. I can see the explosiveness of Don Coryell's offense in Kyle's offense. He has the speed to play the vertical game, and he has the TE's and WR's to play the horizontal WCO. On top of that, he has the zone blocking schemes that make it awfully hard for a defense to figure out whether it's a pass or a run - during those first 3 steps of the initial play.
