Chip Kelly retains Jim O'Neil.

Colin Kaepernick remains with the 49ers.

Those are the only two that could really keep me from looking forward to 49ers football. I have fully excepted that Chip Kelly will be back, but I don't expect him to turn this around any time soon especially next season.

Kolohe, do you believe that with Chip here , we will never have a. D better than 28th to 30th, and Chip's playcalling will mean our D ends up on the field 3/4 of each game.?

I ask because. I think it is fair for chip to get another chance, but after seeing his O put the D on the field 3/4 of every game, is a losing situatioin. Therefore, even tho he should get another chance, I think he fails, due to wearing out his D. And if he fails again, we are just in a bigger hole. Hence I think it better to fire him now rather than next yr.

Depends if he finds or is able to hire a decent DC like Mike Pettine. Other than that, I could see Kelly promoting Jason Tarver who should be able to elevate the defense to at least in the mid 20's if everyone is healthy IMO.
