Nah it's KP who's opinion I value regarding film...he knows a whole hell of a lot more about football then either of us.

And he for sure isn't a homer if you read/follow him. Good objective content.

Narrative? It doesn't even fit common sense.

Objective.

My God. What's his standard for a poor game? 25 sacks under 2 seconds and 1.5 yards a carry in Madden?

As to narrative, that's why you posted it.

Say what you will about our O line and blocking, and they do need help ( how about at right guard and tackle?), Ross Dwelley put just about the best block on Donald I've ever seen, or perhaps anybody's ever seen? Ran full tilt at him and launched right into his chest, knocking him clean off his feet. A thing of beauty and huge props to Dwelley.
And can we please find a QB that can throw an accurate long ball and maybe scan the field just a tad quicker?

this is the s**t where you scream out "what was the RG doing" and the complaining would start...

YET you don't realize his job on that play wasn't to stay in and PP. Context.

Sorry dude I value KP's analysis more than yours...I still love ya though.

I also posted it because I knew have a conniption over it

Agreed.

An absolute given.

$19.3M APY for 3 years.

The remaining games are a courtship for TW. I doubt he'll have any trouble finding a fat contract anywhere. It's important he has fun to close this season, win or lose, preferably while winning.

there's a handful of clips where the QB was a big part of the pressures.

$16M per to stay in SF with the coach he loves with a chance to win OR $19M per to go to say Jacksonville and have zero shot at winning

Dudes already made $100M...I think SF will doing whatever it takes to retain him, I also think he wants to be here.

Definitely. They're built to run. It's just surprising a bit that they've been so inconsistent run blocking this year with 4 of the 5 regular starters and tons of experience in this system.

For sure. He ensured he could be a FA so he has the option to get in a bidding war and have that option to maximize his contract. If we can get close to the top, his love of Kyle, this system and this organization may be enough. I certainly hope so!

But it's a QB hit
In Los Angeles they are praising the game Donald had. I doubt that they're saying too bad it came against a weak line. Our line is hurting now with our backup center out and replaced by his backup. Don't forget that Kittle is missing too and he's one of the best blocking TEs in the league. I still feel that one good interior O lineman and another decent backup can make a big difference.

But it's a QB hit

It would be cool if they start developing comprehensive OL stats that do splits on the types of passing attempts.

< 2.5 seconds (screens, quick slants, etc.)
2.5 seconds (swing passes, seam routes, curls, etc.)
2.5-3.0 seconds (post, 9, deep in, etc.)

Including TE/FB/RB in comprehensive unit pass protection grades.

Having this context would help tease out responsibility esp. that of the QB.

It is a QB hit as Mullens was looking deep. Therefore he's going to need more time in PP.

Just like this is a hit too despite the QB saving their ass.

What happened to Juice's blocking this year? SB hangover? He's still good, but he used to be virtually automatic. Kittle seemed to have took a step back wrt blocking too this year. I've seen Jet struggle with pass protection and that was one of his strengths when we signed him. I'm sure the weird offseason and injuries have played a part, but It's like our team isn't fired up yet.

So true. McKinnon is probably the best we got and he's had two blown knees BUT Kittle and Juice were really good pass protectors too initially. I'm not sure if it's just such a mindset to be run blockers or something else but it's noticeable.
