Yes and the QB's need to realize where the blitzes are coming from and change protections, call a hot route, audible (they use the personnel to help with this) Hell how about NOT running right into the blitz for starters. Saw Mullens do that

Good QB play will eat up blitzes if not, teams would be blitzing every damn down.

Yup, QB's certainly are a part of the overall picture here pre and post snap. Delayed A gap blitzes are not and that's where I've seen a lot too with LB's and DB's coming free and clean.

Of the 81 QB hits in 12 games, I'm curious as to how many you think would be attributed to all 3 QB's.

It is a tough call, they are not ball holders by and large, but they all have some awareness issues and move themselves into danger at times. I wouldn't shave off more than 10 or so, which still puts us sub par for protection. We are never going to be elite because we aren't going to draft those sort of linemen, the body type that excels at these stretch runs is always going to give up a little in pass pro. If we had some one who was mobile and/or an elite reader of defenses and we improved the interior line and Glnch put some of that lost weight back on? I still think our absolute best bet is to be in that Carolina to Miami territory. Now that is a LOT of changes for such a dramatic improvement and still probably the best we can be for what we are built to do. I would be content to see it down in Dal/Min/TB territory....you can probably get there by fixing one or the other. DAL and Min do it with good lines. Tampa and ATL are doing it with great pre-snap QBs.

It's on the RB to pickup that Blitz then. It's the QB moving the RB to switch the protection of where he thinks the blitz is coming from.

QB hits are not an accurate stat on how well an OL is PP... But please feel free to keep posting it like it is

Damn, looks like Tristan Wirfs, Ryan Jensen, and Ali Marpet aren't enough to prevent Tom Brady from get hit 1.1 fewer times per game (than SF). Wow

Carson Wentz has to be shell shocked, my goodness.

I'm not sure why you're so obsessed with this one metric. Nobody is claiming it is or isn't the end all, be all. It's just a part of it and part of it all when it comes to unit pass protection (including the QB).

That's why they've been losing.

Not picking sides but Arians scheme and Shannys schemes are nothing alike

True but how would a QB know when and where a LB is going to blitz unless he's right up at the LOS declaring it.

And how many of the 81 hits would you attribute to the three QB's?

Hard counts are a beautiful thing Film helps too...end of the day the RB/FB needs to see where the blitz is coming from and pick it up.

I have no idea how many of those 81 hits attribute to the QBs, OL, bad play calls, good defense plays etc that's why it's not a very good stat...there's entirely too many variables that have to be accounted for each play.

Not picking sides but Arians scheme and Shannys schemes are nothing alike

and Arians has Tom "the demigod" Brady (using a Boston accent there), a much better OL overall, and probably the best set of receivers in the league.

SF has Nick Mullens, a 4th string center/3rd string RG, and while I like our playmakers they aren't Godwin/Evans/AB/Gronk etc.

Loooooooong ball game vs. ultra short and quick system.

Haha. Yeah.

True, but if you're top 5 the answer is, "all of it is bad."

As a standalone metric, it doesn't hold all-cause. But when it's that bad, it just verifies what everybody already knows no matter the splits.

You keep pivoting to the QB responsibility so I was just curious on your guesstimate. If there's 10 hits in a game, how many would you attribute to the QB alone? No need to answer...I was just curious.

For a little humor.

Arians is going to have to evolve as a play caller to suit Brady's skill set or start over at QB next year.
