Nobody is saying that. LOL. It simply increases your odds of success based on talent traits. Nothing more. It also depends what you're looking for...depth guys like Skule, Brunskill, McKivitz, etc. Going after guys like Tom Compton is calculated too because he fits that role of a depth player who's a veteran and cheap.

Now, if they actually want to UPGRADE starters, you bet your ass they're looking at higher end picks like McGlinchey and Wirfs.

Depends on the player. McGlinchey isn't better than Brian O'Neill right now despite nearly 2 rounds difference in where they were drafted. Every player needs to be looked at individually.

God damn, we need someone like Jensen.

Wanted him

Former 6th rd pick from Colorado State University–Pueblo

Increasingly Linemen are like lottery tickets in the draft. You have guys in elite systems who are fools gold, you have raw material not being taught how to do anything, you have guys feasting on terrible competition and guys who are the only thing worth a damn in their whole program. Almost nobody is running real pro blocking schemes. The scout that can actually pick line talent reliably is worth his weight in gold.

Jensen was so perfect for our scheme and we went out and signed a guy who's okay in Richburg. It's really a shame.

Hehe

I think OL more so than any other position can be found on day 3. This is because of how underdeveloped most of them are coming out of college. The thing is there are so many factors that go into their success ie scheme fit, coaching, development, work ethic, etc.

My problem with Kyle/Lynch's approach is that they're not taking enough shots. Draft more OL.

Totally and totally agree, esp. these days, talent can be found later in the draft too. It's really hard to project even with great traits, in part because of the systems these players may go too.

LOL. Just read this post. That last line has been my biggest beef over the years. That and heavily leaning towards run blockers over pass protectors. But I get that too given Kyle's offense but got damn it's glaring and has killed us.

Elite pass blocking or sieve.
1st round pick or 6th/7th or UDFA.
Only super high priced FA or cast-offs/journeymen

Right? There's literally nothing in between hence the extreme metrics to match too.

Wut? According to what?
Tonight will be a big test against a tough and tested D.

We've got a couple really good DL's coming up.

I would've taken McGovern over Hurd in 2019. It's about the individual player not the position.

Kinlaw over Ruiz was the right call however. Thought so then, think so now.

Humphrey would be a terrible first round choice. Josh Myers in the 2nd? That's a different story.

Meh their front 7 isn't anything special. Rams were much better

Washington's DL is by far the biggest test left
