I believe they won't move on from Richburg yet, not much savings letting him walk. I'd take the Saints approach with Ruiz and pick the best Center you have on the board, who can also play RG.
If Richburg is healthy, plug the kid at RG. If Richburg goes down again, you plug the rookie. The point is to have a solid plan for Center (second most important OL position).
McGlinchey could walk eventually, he hasn't been good enough. Brunskill best football came as an OT specially on the right side. Mckivitz is also an OT and I don't think he should be playing IOL.

We also need a RT...
4 of the 5 OL are good to great run blockers
3 of the TE/RB/FB's are good to great run blockers
1 of the 5 OL is a great pass protector
1 of the TE/RB/FB's is a great pass protector
It's that simple.
So it comes down to how you want to team build and which resources you want to use going forward. Are you looking to ACTUALLY upgrade starters or, like MM, you're fine with the starters and just want more get-by and quality depth players? And don't forget Kyle's scheme...these players were hand picked because they're stronger in run blocking.
PS: lots of low snaps with Brunskill last night which threw some timing off and blew a TD chance on a quick snap.
Those great run blockers couldn't hammer it in from the goaline it was pretty embarrassing how manhandled the middle got during that stretch of plays before Mullens threw it in after the D saved the O with a turnover.

Again, we're going to agree to disagree with comparisons. An OL that deliberately is chosen only for RB is the issue.
Goff and Jimmy are the same guy. Not particularly mobile but can throw on the move but are scattershot behind a questionable pocket. Rams are gonna likely win 12 games with a meh OL. When they run block well like Sunday they look good. When they don't we beat them twice. It's red apples to red apples to me.

This is why you need to watch the games. Goff is continuously harassed. Just because he isn't being hit doesn't mean they are doing a great job. But again they look good when they run well.
We played them twice. In which game did you think their OL was playoff caliber? Just like us, when the teams stop the run the Rams turn into a pumpkin. It's just their defense right now is a tick better and Goff is better than Mullens so they win the narrow games.

Where the Rams are different is they have - hands down - a better PB OL, and not because it's some anecdotal or flushed out stat, we know our FO deliberately chooses players (starters and depth) that are supposedly better RB vs PB. It's intentional so there shouldn't be much of a shock here. The problem we're seeing is that because teams are preparing accordingly and will attack the run, we're going to need to pass. Granted, QB play has a LOT to do with a successful passing game. However that doesn't lessen the need for a starting caliber center.
We have to start with center.
This OL, this offense as Kyle as schemed it just doesn't work well with a journeyman/back/UDFA starting at center. If there's one position this offense must have for line play stability, especially in the passing game, it's a good center.
We can't filed that today and it shows a ton.
Sure but you aren't finding that for 2021 in the draft so it's gonna be a journeyman center to start. Just the reality. Gotta draft a guy to develop into the long term answer.
Teams attack the run because our QB can't throw an accurate slant pass. There were plays all over the place last night for Mullens to make and he couldn't do it. The issue right now is no team respects whatever QB we put out there. They won't respect Jimmy either until he shows he can be accurate.
We could be at the Rams 47 hits and the team would still be 5-7. Qb's cant throw accurately even when protected right now.

What part Hoov? Needing a center or deliberately choosing run-heavy OL? Help me out here.
No not those 2, don't have a problem with what you said about that. The comments about the Rams OL was what I disagree with. I watch most of their games and it's not accurate.

You believe the Rams DO NOT have a better PB OL than we have?
Remember when you guys told us the only reason the niners sacks and hits went down last year was due to scheme and running the ball and not because they were better at PP? Do you watch a lot if Rams games?

If he was harassed he'd be hit.

Not true. I'm guessing you don't watch a lot of Ram games

Ha. I mean if your guys reality is the Rams OL is suddenly good because you are looking at QB hits and sacks, well that is just hilarious on so many levels

I'm just saying if "Goff is continuously harassed" he'd most likely be in the higher end of QB hits. How do you harass a QB without ever hitting him?
He'd have to be insanely elusive, have great pocket feel and have eyes in the back of his head. And we know that's not the case for sure with Goff.
