Translation: You're now in Kyle's doghouse

From the homepage article quote:

"His weight does fluctuate," Shanahan said of McGlinchey, who is currently listed at 6-8, 310 pounds. "I think he was lighter this year. That stuff we'll talk about at the end of the season and hopefully have an offseason to be able to figure out whatever's best for him."

As for the penalty, Shanahan said, "I didn't see exactly what happened on that. I'm looking down the field. But they've got a good D-line and we got into situations where they could tee off a little bit, which puts the challenge on our whole O-line. But obviously we've got to do better and find a way to avoid that penalty."

30 drop backs for Hurts behind one or the worst OLs in football (bring up your QB hit stat) and zero sacks...vs the #1 defense.

QB play matters. Ability to feel pressure and move matter.

Oh it definitely matters. I've never disputed that. Great job on his part for sure. The problem is sustainability with it. Typically, if they don't learn to use pocket mobility WITHIN the phone booth pocket, the hits and pressures and sacks and injuries climb dramatically over time. I'm all for finding a QB with tremendous pocket feel and mobility within it and one that can even make plays outside of it.

And if you're looking for a QB to make up for poor unit PP, you're doing it all wrong too.

where you getting this stat from?

No I'm simply saying good QB play will improve PP overall. That much has been proven true for a very long time.

I'm talking about those that tend to rely on their legs vs. their eyes/training.

Define "good QB play" for me in your context here.
LOL.

Do it Kyle. Maybe he's finally learned.

Wow, he's down 15 lbs from his combine weight, which was already light for a guy his size. Dude needs to bust his ass off this offseason and come in around 320 lbs. There's no reason he shouldn't be around there.

Raise your hand if you ever thought Mike McGlinchey would need to take on a Trenton Brown diet to be a serviceable RT.

He got into staley retirement diet...
That's my OL

Staley recently said he would enjoy being a coach someday... MM was much better with Staley as his big brother in the film and locker room. How would you guys feel about Staley being an O-line consultant next season to get his feet wet in the coaching game?

I'd hate that. Never liked that guy. Such an awful person with zero personality. Plus what does he know about playing on the OL?

I know a lot of dudes who are 6'3 at 295 and in great shape that still look like athletes and McG came to camp 6'8 at that weight? Wow. Clearly Coach Dustin Perry doesn't have a lot of experience. He's in his 3rd year with the 49ers AND coaching in the pros. Zero experience with OL - even in college.

Nobody thought to say anything months ago?

I posted about how awfully skinny McGlinchey looked when the training camp videos and photos came out.

So the tweet reads like the plan was for McG to show up at 295.....
