Yeah, FTR, Lomnardi, NC, GM, Cohn, etc. Lean towards wanting better pass protectors for sure.

Then again, I'd love both actually. If this were politics I'd be all over the place. LOL

Never been against adding players to the OL, if Richburg is toast without question they need to upgrade center via FA IMO.

QB is just the most important position in all of sports. We currently have Shaun Hill 2.0 back there and that matters with everything on offense, including PP.

Getting a rookie QB allows this team to resign TW, I mean you want that right? It helps upgrade things like the IOL and everything else...it gives SF a little flexibility and maybe just maybe better QB now and into the future.

Oh I get it. Totally, esp. from a team building standpoint. I just feel like I've never really been in position to properly evaluate Jimmy d/t pass protection issues and health and skill positions in/out of the lineup constantly. Hell, we can't even get Deebo and Aiyuk on the field together. That said, he already suffers from Battered QB Syndrome so I'm cool with whatever they feel is the best direction to go.

Even with a rookie QB though, that unit pass protection, overall team health and skill positions are all going to be enormous factors in the big picture, even over a talented mobile rookie QB. In short, don't expect much different if these aren't "fixed" too.

agreed, free yards and 1st downs to be had and we're not taking advantage of this.

Bout what I figured they'd be. Trent awesome,Tomlinson bad rest ok not great.

Actually your OL would involve a guy rated 54.4 for the season by PFF.

That's not true. Tristen Wirfs has an 81.4 grade as a rookie RT with no off season in an air raid offense and 57 year old QB to protect.

Nothing is gonna be perfect, at some point the QB has to do their job............

Absolutely nothing to do with the OL.

Do you only read your own posts?

I've said a thousand times cumulative QB hits are a simple metric and OUR issues are unit pass protection. That extends well beyond the OL...to QB, TE, RB and Arby's.

If you are in the top 5 most QB hits, that means the entire UNIT sucks ass at pass protection (not just the OL).

Hell, I used to throw in pre snap QB protection calls too into that equation until that was debunked recently.

That whole unit falls on the lack of talent (Lynch) and properly preparation (Benton) and probably a complex pre snap shift offense (Kyle).

My God. Pay this man his $19.3M now.

These are the standards we should have on the OL.

5 Trent Williams or it's a failure.

Aim for the TW's in talent and attributes, settle for culture and production...never lower the standards.

No different in the DL.

It's no wonder why you hear McGlinchey and Tomlinson talking about having good games after Staley is gone when it's obvious to the world they got wrecked. Low standards. Former 49er OL would have b***h slapped them for even thinking it.

For all the talk about low standards, poor play and PFF grades...MM is 76.2 on the year and Tomlinson is 77.2

Until last game, Tomlinson did have a nice 5-6 game run after getting Garoppolo killed for the season. I thought McGlinchey had a nice game in both aspects last game.

What are the splits? We know both are exceptional run blockers for sure. Ranks in their position groups?

Just curious...
