Going to be interesting to see our Dline vs. the Colts O-line next year.
Though we better do something about IOL because Buckner is gonna feast.

Which particular players do you see us getting at C and RG and do we go the free agent route or de we do one the free agent route and one through the draft? I could see us drafting Wyatt Davis if he is available at our 1st round spot for RG and then sign Corey Linsley at C seeing as he comes from a similar system in Green Bay.

We have to shore up the C position - Richburg is injury prone.

No rookie QB for Trent.
Yikes.

I could Lynch going IOL in the first round this time. Objectives are to get rid of Richburg's contract, upgrade talent and insurance if they can't extend Tomlinson past 2021. They could go Rashawn Slater or Wyatt Davis to improve the talent, resign Brunskill, Grasu and Garland. These guys fight it out for the C position. C would still be a weak spot, but surrounded on either side by better talent should mitigate that. Stronger run game with more effective play action.
I don't see the 49ers having the cash to get signficant free agents, so this is probably the best way to go for this year.

I don't know what Trent thinks of Jimmy - maybe Trent is perfectly fine with, 'anyone but Jimmy'. But going to a rookie QB is not something many Super Bowl hopefuls plan to do in the offseason. If that's the course Kyle decides to take, then he'll have to do a good job convincing Trent that the team won't miss a beat.

McGlinchey was 310 at the combine. He's down 15 lbs, yet doesn't believe he needs to get bigger/stronger? wtf?

Do you guys think if we restructure Jimmy's contract or Staffords contract we could draft and sign 2 linemen, filling both holes at RG and C as long as we cut Ford and Richburg as well, thoughts?

He can be lighter and stronger but I don't think he is. I think 305 would be a place for him to start.

He certainly isn't wrong about his technique either. It's been horrendous and wildly inconsistent.

If McGLinchey was 310 at the combine, then that is the minimum on where he needs to be come training camp. He might be stronger now than he was then, but adding that 15 pounds back can only help.

Are there any viable RG or C that could be had via trade? Or is the only way we fill these gaps in free agency and the draft?

I suppose there may be one or two reasonable OL available but to be honest I have had enough of shoring up the line with caste-offs. We have been quite lucky with some of them in the past but it is not giving the position the respect it deserves. For me, it is time we restocked in the draft.

I agree that we should draft a IOL early, mainly the C position. If we draft one of the top C's in the draft either in RD2 or with a RD3 pick (assuming Saleh leaves and we get one) I would be happy with that, assuming Richburg is cut and Garland is brought back to battle the rookie for the starting C spot. The loser of that battle can compete with McKivitz and Brunskill for the starting RG spot.
