Stock up on OL. So much is asked of these guys in JUST run blocking. Nuts.

What stands out to me on this play is how agile Juice is.

Sooooo, for those who are in the "QB's are mostly responsibility for pass protection" camp, here you go:
In 2020, what % of the QB pressures were charged to the QB:
Mullens - 3%
BeatHard - 5.7%
Garoppolo - 1.2% (2019 - 1.2%)
Reference: Better Rivals Episode 356 @ 43:30
In short, Garoppolo has found success inSPITE of the poor pass protection. Fix the pass protection (and stay healthy) and we win the ship.

Starts with a good intelligent powerful/athletic center. The play above, where the 49ers run wide, imagine all the teams cheating up to stop those middle runs because of a powerful center (Alex Mac/Mike Webster level) those misdirection outside would get us 7 to 14 points easily each game. No way to scheme that or get game film on that. Superior execution would help us dominate games.

Well that's super interesting data.
I"m wondering if the pressures came up more through the middle vs the outside rush. That would have been interesting to know.

I think we have 10 picks in the draft. How many will be used for OLine? I'm betting NC, you wouldn't want Kyle to use all the fifth round picks we have on OLine, right?
Just use these. That's all. I'm not asking for much.

Agreed. We should consider our own stat site dedicated to protection.
I think the 49ers Moneyball analytics department employs actual high school coaches to augment their head moneyball guy that does all sorts of stat analysis. (the money ball guy and the coaches talk to Praag and not any of the football guys - as far as I can recall)

I'm hoping the Jets take a QB with the 2nd pick, so we can land Darnold for our 3rd rd picks we get for Saleh leaving, 3rd this year, and 3rd next year (we keep the 2023 3rd for Mayhew leaving). This way in the 1st, we can take the best DB left, or the best Edge rusher, we need to improve those areas, what we draft would also be dictated on who we kept out of Verrett+Hyder. I think Hyder will come back cheaper so most likely e end up drafting a DB in rd. 1 this year.
As far as our 2nd rd. pick goes, if a good pass rusher is there, I would take him, and focus on OL with our next pick(s). Jimmy G could probably be traded for a 3rd this year assuming the Pats want him back, so we could get a IOL with our 3rd and be sitting pretty good to go BPA the rest of the draft.
