Hopefully Mack will come to SF for a reasonable contract and we all know durability is the #1 need and he started 90 games in a row until the last 2 games this past year with a concussion

I'd cream my pants if we signed Mack.

Then get ready for some damn Mack news.....I'll be waiting to clean up on aisle 5 Mayo!!!
We have to get Mack.
Last time he FAed, i really hoped we would sign him, but, nope, it didn't happen. Would love to see him but ....anyone have a medical hx on him that is current, like up to date yesterday? I loved the guy, and even wanted him early on coming out of college...but health would be my one reservation, and if not 100%,...don't even think about it.

He's got some wear on those treads. Anybody have any for certain info on his health?

Aside from 2014 he's been pretty healthy. Missed a couple games this season for concussion.

I don't think injury history is the issue with Mack. It's all about the age, desire, wear on the body etc.

Missed week 16 this past season with a concussion and the week 17 for COVID, and before that, broken fibula in 2014

Thx. That seems livable.

Would really fkn suck if we loose Williams. Had the best shot at Wirfs last year and passed because they had the Williams trade done in agreement so they got Kinlaw./ huge fkn mistake IMO and if William leaves then yeah man they gambled and lost big time.
Mack would be an upgrade and they could still draft a guard/center. The only concern I would have with Mack is age. He's right about at that point where O linemen start to break down. It happened to Staley and it's common among NFL linemen. They have longer careers than most positions and then all of a sudden everything starts to come apart from all those years in the trenches..

Yeah, the only knock on Mack is his age. I think he's still got a good two, three years left in the tank.

Quick four steps offensive line fix for 2021:
1. Resign T.Williams

2. Sign Alex Mack in FA. Next year's Center prospects are better with Linderbaum and Lindstrom going back to school.

3. Draft Rashawn Slater in the 1st.

4. Draft Wyatt Davis in the 2nd. Possibly he'll drop to the 2nd with Slater and Humphrey being the first two iOL to get drafted.

Williams - Slater - Mack - Davis - MM

With that upgraded OLine, the Niners can run all game and Jimmy won't have to worry about the pocket collapsing on him on almost every snap. As much as I like Tomlinson he's a liability and whiffed a lot. If there's a year the Niners should go all-in on revamping the OL this should be it.

Counting on rookie OL is a dicey proposition. Getting Davis in round 2 is very unlikely.

For some reason Humprhey doesn't look to be as high on draft boards as others. But his Senior Bowl performance could make him jump.
I'd absolutely love to snag both Slater and Humphrey. Yeah I don't like the idea of having to rookies starting at OL. And I'd even make Mike compete with Brunskill for the RT job.

The Colts did it a few years back with Quenton Nelson and Braden Smith. They now have one of the best OL in the league.

We also did it with Mike Iupati and Anthony Davis.

Im glad more fans are seemingly on the fix the O-line train as opposed to giving up a ransom of picks for a QB to start behind our one man O-line.

Sign Williams, Mack, and draft Slater and a center later. I believe the lineup below would give us time to incorporate more passes outside of the numbers and deep passes.

T. Williams/S. Coleman/Justin Skule (loser of Skule and Coleman is likely cut)
L. Tomlinson/C. McKivitz/Ben Garland
Alex Mack/rookie/Ben Garland
R. Slater/Ben Garland/C. McKivitz
Mike McGlinchey/Dan Brunskill

Pretty deep at O-line with 10 guys, but that lineup should give us some versatility, insurance for injury, guys that can actually challenge the starters at most positions, and raises the floor in terms of PP potential of the O-line.
