Confused on how our situation mixes in with Mahomes.
Were our top tackles out of the Super Bowl last year?

Right? I think it's more he's mobile and still got pressured a ton...throw Jimmy in that game last night and he get's sacked like 10+ times.
I thin the disconnect is some people who value OL a ton, don't think others think it's important...which simply isn't true. The QB position just happens to be MORE important. You don't get a chance every yr to be in a position to make a move for a QB in a good QB class. You can find good lineman every yr though.
I see no reason why they can't upgrade both. I have no idea why it has to be one or the other.

a little thread of PBWR and why it's a very weird stat and needs to be revamped.
The Chiefs pass block win rate last night was 67%.

Surprised? Me too!
On first look seems like a few different reasons for disparity with pressures, primarily a bunch of wins shortly after the 2.5s cutoff. (cont.)

Bottom line, that game was won in the trenches. If we can't recognize that we need to seriously upgrade the OL and continue to stock the DL, we're absolute fools. Period.

I think oline in general. The problem in our oline that year was our interior.

NC preaches the importance of the oline. It's funny seeing how these posters defend mahomes because a bad oline, but rag on Jimmy and it's not because of the oline. Bunch of tony romos in here.

The Richburg misfire hurt a lot in 2019, and by that I mean time and reps lost to injury and he absorbed a ton of cap space. He was talented, no doubt. I think he was picked in the second round. ShanaLynch know about the trench war, its the health issue that got them in '19 and '20. The other misfires that hurt the offense was the Hurd and Pettis misfires. If they would have produced- i think we win the super bowl. Those three misfires, in my mind made the difference between winning and losing the super bowl.
ShanaLymch is going in the right direction, its the injury bug that needs to be solved. Right now the only thing I can think of to solve it is get more *healthy* talent and get more lucky.

The Bucs had a top-5...

QB
Receiving Corps
OL
DL
LB Group
Seconday
Hat's off to Jason Licht. Masterclass in modern roster building via draft + free agency
this time last yr the issue in TB was the OL and QB. The only difference in the OL was Wirfs from 2019 (who did play great his rookie yr) They actually lost their starting RG for a good amount of time this yr.
Last yr Winston was the 5th highest sacked QB in football. No doubt the OL was good this yr, the QB made it a f**k ton better. They added a TE that is an amazing blocking TE. They have the best receiving corp in football. that stat above shows they just have an overall amazing team JUST needed a good QB.

10 picks say the can upgrade both. If they hit on their draft picks. I think this team, when healthy, isn't missing that many pieces to make it to the super bowl again. They have to hit on their offensive and defensive line picks though. Cant have any Solomon's, Hurd's or Reubens in this years draft, if they want to make the super bowl in Feb 2022.

I can't speak for the rest of the Mahomes defenders BUT there's a ton of substance to that game last night that get's left out. Mahomes ability to move is the ONLY thing that gave them a chance. He had multiple balls dropped two of which would have been TDs. His coach didn't give those backup OTs any help. 5 man protection calls all night. How can you do that? Kelce is who we thought a great big slot TE, he's not an inline blocker. He's not chipping JPP or Shaq. I saw the rookie RB miss multiple chips and blitz pickups (in the beginning).
We all know the OL is important...it's not like KC didn't have two top end OTs (they got hurt) Not sure what people are expecting there ...that they should have TWO other stud OTs behind them lol? NC also said DTs are a dime a dozen, yet Suh and Vita via were destroying up the middle....Bowles took away PM's first read and knew they weren't helping in protection, so just ran 4 man pressures and played C2 the rest of the game. Bad coaching in KC last night.

They have to upgrade at QB, this is their chance to do it. 4 very good QB prospects and a top 12 pick to make it happen. You can invest in OL with vets (add cap space with Jimmy traded) and use a plethora of day 3 picks to draft OL in a deep draft at that position.

When Montana had his back injury after (I think) the Jim Burt hit, Walsh traded for a guy named Steve, even though he had Montana. I think the situation is similar and warrants a high pick in the draft for a QB.

If they sign Josh though, that may signal that they may not go QB high this years draft though.

Agree, and good coaching on the other side, and I dont mean Arians either. Fat Andy got lucky in 2019, when he faced an inexperienced Kyle and Jimmy. This year he faced Coach Brady, I think Brady could be one hell of a coach if he ever decided to retire from playing.

I know you love Jimmy, I don't think he can get us back to a Super Bowl let alone win it however. Not with a watered down roster. He's gone backwards IMO.
Josh has absolutely no baring on what they do at the QB position in the draft/via trade. He cost like $700K and isn't guaranteed a roster spot, let alone us thinking he's the future. He's hanging on to his NFL career by a thread right now.
Move up go get your guy, build around him with proven guys. We all want the Super Bowl in 2021 BUT I'll be realistic and be content with a 9+ win season and a trip to the playoffs (where anything can happen) as long as I know we have our guy at QB for the foreseeable future. Kyle and Lynch have said the goal is to have a long-term successful franchise. First step is getting the QB.

I wouldn't say Reid got lucky with Kyle, the play calls were there...our guys didn't execute them end of the day. Jimmy was god awful in the 4th QR (like worst in NFL history bad) plus Mahomes just made an incredible play to get that 3rd down. Not many QBs could have done that.
SF had the better team and even with all those f**k up, still had a great chance to win. Sucks but I believe in the HC and GM to make it right. Doesn't have to be SB or bust next yr for me. Just get some important things figured out (or have a plan) like the QB position.
