More importantly, it will keep us from having the false sense of security that "well, we have Richburg to anchor the Center of our OL"....when in fact , we don't and haven't had anyone there most of the last two seasons. Wishing and hoping someone gets healthy has a time limit on it. A yr? That's one thing . A second yr? That's another. And basically you look at our OL most of the last two yrs and up the gut has been a super highway for opposition Ds to smoke our QBs, no matter who was back there. It also cost us most of JGs services last season. Time to move on.

if we save more money on April 1st vs June 1st or vice versa, whichever....get 'Er done.

Sixth Lombardi is rightfully OURS!!

Yeah all this b******t about the defense giving up 21 points in seven minutes or Jimmy Garoppolo choking on one or two throws is all true but considering the horrendous refereeing it's b******t. The bottom line is the referees should've called one f**king holding out of 20 and we win the game. Better to be lucky than good. This year's crew of zebras would've given us a win no problem.

The media and league would have to love our QB to give us those calls. Thats why Brady got them this year and we didn't last year.

I agree - get it done sooner rather than later.

Cap savings?

NVM. I see its about 4.5 million pre-June 1 and 7.9 million post-June 1. May as well wait. i don't see anyone making a play for Richburg. His salary alone is damn near the money we could use on rookies.

Combination of the refs, defense collapsing, and one sided officiating. The 49ers were shooting themselves on the foot. They didn't need the refs help to do that.

Says a steelers fan adding insult to injury on a 49er board.

The 49ers' tune hasn't changed: They love Jimmy Garoppolo when he's healthy and winning. Keeping him healthy is the challenge. So it's imperative the 49ers do something about that these next two months. They must fortify their offensive line with reliable, intimidating bodyguards. Pay up. Get nasty. Own the trenches. Stay healthy. Win. It's so simple.

It really is so simple.

Sometimes simple isn't common sense or obvious.

No more relying on players with a history of injuries.

Still no official actual word on Richburg being cut. I wish he would just retire.

I'm just glad there's movement in this direction. You just have to plan accordingly and I'm glad the team may be looking this way. If beat writers are starting to echo this, I feel like it may be something they're starting to hear from sources with the team. I expect there to be some major movement this offseason here and it will be very much welcomed.
Me too.
They should be looking at the OLine, for sure. Its obvious to casual fans, it should be obvious to the pros.
