So was it good enough?

None of it was. Was the secondary? Or the QB play? Tartt get a INT you can't use that debate. Jimmy hits one of his dozen missed reads or bad throws they win all the same.

thats my point. I also said it wasn't great in the playoffs.

We're in the OL thread.

Was it good enough?

I'm talking to him about you in the second paragraph…but you know that

So weird.

I know this is super hard to comprehend but let's repeat it again for s**ts and giggles (pun intended).

LT has ALWAYS been in the red in pass protection. He put his starting QB on I.R. twice in one year. That wasn't enough evidence for you. 7 years later he FINALLY got out of the red only to dive right back in it in the playoffs. At one point he was graded as one of the worst PBE G's in the NFL.

If calling THAT aspect of his game is considered "s**tting on him" you have issues.

You do this...you latch on to one little thing and can't see anything else.

As to him in general, I've always stated he's an above average G in run blocking, below average in PP and overall a solid tier 3-4 G who gives you continuity and health. He's worth keeping esp. in a year where so many changes are expected on the OL with a new starting QB.

But his weaknesses are why you can see they let him walk. That's still a player you'd like to upgrade over after 6 years.

The red? Compared to who? The league as a whole. No actually he hasn't. If you can't realize that and how your boy Thorn has him top 5, then there's nothing else to discuss. You were WRONG or what you're smarter than thorn 😂 is that what you're telling me?

what you fail to realize with your tier comment, is a tier 3 LG is ranked 5th overall in the league! If that doesn't show you the mediocrity of the position and lack of need overall in the NFL. Then yeah your expectations are delusional.

PM your buddy Hoov...already went over all of this with him too because he needed to see the evidence.

Now you're muddling topics again.

Do you want to talk about his PP weakness or do you want to talk about a lack of talent at G across the league while completely dismissing me saying for the 100th time I would have liked to keep him...including 5 minutes ago.
Matt Maiocco brought up a good point the other day.

Obviously his #1 concern is the OL too but he noted that normally when an OL goes up against a 2nd or 3rd string DL and wins, you don't think much of it.

But NOW, with a DL stacked 3 deep with not only the highest end talent but legit NFL experience and scheme familiarity, it truly means something. He's not going to gloss over those wins.

LOL You got me before the added edits! Dammit! LOL but yep.

Shout out to YAC's crack research too esp. season vs. post season info. That's gold, good or bad. PFF has its flaws (esp. with OL) so take it with a grain of salt but it helps paint a picture in conjuction with other sources as well.

It's nice getting back to some objectivity and civil discussions again in here.
I loved the idea of Banks between Mack and Williams. Now I'm still high on Banks, but were going from a pro-bowl center to a nobody. Two new guards and a right tackle coming off a horrible injury. We have to hope whoever wins the Center job is a true find.

He does it to me also. LOL. I could push edit, edit the post in 10 seconds and he will post 10 minutes later and have my previously unedited post quoted.

Imagine us going in the Garoppolo thread (NY85's home base still) and claiming he s**ts on everything Garoppolo after he immediately points out a clear and well documented weakness. And then calling him out to provide evidence on his claim Garoppolo doesn't throw outside the numbers or deep often (or successfully). And immediately after he provides that proof we start calling him a "liar."

I'm sooooo bad at that!

Muddying aka adding context lol.

look I want them to improve. Never said didn't or don't constantly have SF drafting or signing a guy in FA.

my point is a guy whom you think isn't very good for yrs (to the point of calling him crap) is actually regarded as a top 5 LG by a guy who's opinion you use in here as gospel. Whatever tier you want to place on him, he's top 5 overall. It shows that overall the league doesn't value the position and your expectations of tier 1/2 guys isn't real. He has 1 tier 1 guy and 3 tier 2 guys (one actually played OT most of last yr) then Laken.

Tomlinson wasn't worth what he got paid imo. Guys like Nelson or Larry Allen are the obvious outlier for a Guard and everyone understands that.

As much hell as I am giving the o-line it made sense to let LT go. I am upset about Center.

Nope home base is Lance.

The rest or the trash you wore makes no sense.

NC talking about pride/ego and being objective in the OL thread 😂 😂 😂 😂 coming from the guy who hasn't given an inch on this topic for years. That's cute.

Keep pretending when you write about someone in here makes all of a sudden makes it true.

So both. That's fine.

The issue was never Laken Tomlinson. He is what he's always been and he's been very consistent in his strengths and weaknesses and Intangibles (loved in the locker room, bright, coachable, durable, etc).

The ISSUE was that we had a classic pocket passer. Those players need higher end talent in front of them esp. in pass protection. That, clearly, is LT's weakness. And it cost us a full season (2020). The other issue is the FO never brought in anybody to legit challenge him. No talented but raw rookie to genuinely develop and challenge him. That guy, Banks, was brought in to replace him. Not improve the whole units talent.

As to G's around the league, that's why a Tier 3.5 G was paid $13M. They don't hit FA and the OL market is the polar opposite of the DL market (oversarurated) as it stands today.
