Now you're muddling topics again.
Do you want to talk about his PP weakness or do you want to talk about a lack of talent at G across the league while completely dismissing me saying for the 100th time I would have liked to keep him...including 5 minutes ago.
Muddying aka adding context lol.
look I want them to improve. Never said didn't or don't constantly have SF drafting or signing a guy in FA.
my point is a guy whom you think isn't very good for yrs (to the point of calling him crap) is actually regarded as a top 5 LG by a guy who's opinion you use in here as gospel. Whatever tier you want to place on him, he's top 5 overall. It shows that overall the league doesn't value the position and your expectations of tier 1/2 guys isn't real. He has 1 tier 1 guy and 3 tier 2 guys (one actually played OT most of last yr) then Laken.
So both. That's fine.
The issue was never Laken Tomlinson. He is what he's always been and he's been very consistent in his strengths and weaknesses and Intangibles (loved in the locker room, bright, coachable, durable, etc).
The ISSUE was that we had a classic pocket passer. Those players need higher end talent in front of them esp. in pass protection. That, clearly, is LT's weakness. And it cost us a full season (2020). The other issue is the FO never brought in anybody to legit challenge him. No talented but raw rookie to genuinely develop and challenge him. That guy, Banks, was brought in to replace him. Not improve the whole units talent.
As to G's around the league, that's why a Tier 3.5 G was paid $13M. They don't hit FA and the OL market is the polar opposite of the DL market (oversarurated) as it stands today.
