Saw the clip of Jensen, he's toast. Got rolled up on.

The scream when it happened, ugh.

Looks like JC Tretter will be off the free-agent market now
JCT domino alert

I was thinking about this from the defensive perspective today. I used to talk to Heroism a lot about the DL (SME) and if you get an ER that's providing pressure rate % in the high teens, early twenties, you're moving into the elite bucket. These OL numbers are an inverse of that.

That means these teams are 1) passing a lot and 2) these defenses are crazy talented and are bringing it. And all the top OL's are in here too (talent gap).

It wouldn't surprise me if in most of these pressure situations, the mass majority were more than 1 defender causing the pressures too. That was something I noticed over the years with us...it was usually a full OL collapse. That's why you saw that Trey 5 sack pre season game. Nowhere to run or navigate too.

Keep an eye on that in the pre season games. Not just the pressures but the type and volume. That might give us some insight into how much Trey is going to have to move off schedule during the season. If it's just one guy sneaking through, you can work with that mostly.

Also without any of the starters, great take lol

I agree with NinerGM. I hope they get better and fast. You never know when you have to rely on one of those back ups to take a starting role. The football gods know we haven't had the best of luck with health on the O line over the years.

You agree without pads should be easier to block also

Not from my understanding. O lineman use their hands to get up under the DL's pads when blocking. DL use their hands to fight off the O lineman from getting their hands on them. DL have the advantage with no pads.

Agreed - what I was referring to is that there are no "sacks" or hard hits rushing the passer without pads. They just let the play continue and Trey was clearly rattled/frustrated. As YAC has proven in other threads, pressure disrupts passers.
Clearly rattled and frustrated lol

Tough break for Tampa Bay

screw them.. you have one favorite team and then you hate everyone else

I like competition. Not much enjoyment watching a mountain lion kill a rabbit.
i enjoyed it in 85, 89 and 94. i also enjoy watching us bring out the worse in green bay in big games. i enjoyed the super bowl win over denver very much

Same here, absolutely loved it. Best game that looked like a Mountain Lion killing a Rabbit was 49ers vs Mike Ditka in the 1984 NFC Championship Game. 23-0 in *their* stadium.

It was a *Lovely* day!

Did we win those games cause their roster was depleted cause of injury? Or did we just dominate cause we were just the better team?
They were a good team. They would also go 18-1 the next season after we won it in '84. We just eviscerated them. From the opening to the closing -- just sheer domination. We had a very deep team in '84, and very few injuries.

Guy McKintyr was the precursor to William *The Refrigerator* Perry that year, hoping Poe can revisit that role for Kyle. Maybe someone can make up a nickname for Poe when that happens. Jason *The Full Sized Bar-B-Que Grill* Poe, or something like that.

Sorry bad nickname was already appointed to him by 9moon. "The Raven" if I remember correctly

I appreciate the in depth analysis isolating the OLine, but just keep in mind also that the OLine is part of the offense (albeit a big part of the offense, I grant that).

For me, one of the most important things I'd like to see is how the OLIne blocking is integrated into the passing scheme. For example - in the play action boot pass. The fire out blocks that the OLinemen execute for the play action, they have to (1) do a good job of selling the run (2) do a good job of getting back into a pass set after the fake run block. That means do they drop back and go to the right spot to set up their stance to pass block? If Trey is rolling to the right, I *hope* the OLinemen are not heading left!

That means a guy like McGlinchy playing right tackle can't get beat if that boot pass is to be successful. He can't get armed-over and have the DT or DE in Trey's face as he turns towards the LOS. I don't know how the pressure rate stats measure how well McGlinchy (a) sold the run to the Defender he's facing and (b) did he even go to the right spot to set up for Trey to do his run/pass option.

Well, I'm an eternal optimist. Someday, I think 9Moon will make up a nickname that someone here might like.
