Yeah that was an incredibly stupid comment. Like I've said before, we react a year too late. First DE's, then CB's now C.
It certainly makes you shake your head and think about Bobb McKittrick.
I agree that it certainly feels like we're always leaving it a year too late. Out of curiosity, I just looked at our drafts back to 2018 and saw that we've spent just under 18% of our picks on guards and tackles. Granted, the past two drafts have fattened that number a bit, but it suggests that we've been making the investment. The trouble seems to be in coaching our rookies through the transition period and into being an established, reliable presence on the line. We *should* have the bodies at this point. Nevertheless, whether it's coaching, the long-running injury epidemic, or just picking the wrong guys, something (or things) is interrupting our ability to transition rookies into stable vets that can reliably hold down their positions.
I don't want to think about November, when the inevitable injuries start to rear their head.
