poe is being tested, because they want to make him part of the 53

Banks has been "okay" far from great. I think there's a lg battle. Because banks is doing okay, and Poe is winning in practice, and against the other backups in pre season games. Poe has been better in one on ones in practice then banks

None of the O lineman have been great so far in pre season. None of them. Banks has been good enough to hold that LG spot down though. Poe has been great in the run game but shaky in pass pro. Like a lot more shaky than Banks has. They want to get a good look at Poe and determine whether he can fill in if Burford or Banks get dinged up. No use in keeping a guy if he isn't good enough to step in on passing downs.

Exactly. Solid so far. Flashes.

MM two podcasts ago said McKivitz has had a great camp and basically is the swing-T. That should be very concerning to fans by now. His and JLC's next observations about the OL was that the Vikings DL pwned the OL and were constantly in the backfield...pancaking fools like Justin Skule. Trey Lance was greatly effected and always on the move.

My biggest take-away was that the calm and collected Trent Williams was very frustrated and got very vocal with Chris Foerster. JLC used the term "aggressive." That ain't good.

Sink or swing situation with the IOL which struggled with stunts and their pass rushers moving around.

On depth: "It's those 3 or nobody."

Obviously they have extra concerns about Brunskill and McGlinchey with their injuries.

MM's biggest concern is an inexperienced Trey Lance
in conjunction with the IOL. He feels once teams start game planning, it could get ugly. Because right now it's basic and predictable and it's a struggle now.

From what I have seen is Banks, Brendel and Burford have looked decent when they were all playing together. As fans, we don't get to see any of that stuff that happens in practice when it comes to the O line. I am curious to see what things look like when we add TW along with the interior 3. I will be highly concerned if McKivitz ends up starting at RT to start the season. I never thought I'd say this but hopefully at least Brunskill can get back onto the field and man that spot if MM cannot go come week 1.

That's exactly where I'm at. I'm excited about some of the flashes from Banks and Burford and because Brendel has looked very steady and consistent so far. The flashes point to higher ceilings.

But to their point and yours, we don't see as much outside of the pre season game snaps.

As to McKivitz???

Chris Biderman said Kyle did NOT sound encouraged by Mike McGlinchey's knee. At all.

The only good that could come from that is Poe making the roster at G and it forces Brunskill, when healthy, to start taking T reps again.

Happy to say I think our guards will be fine and probably even an improvement as the season goes along. I have no idea about center which is bad and RT scares the hell out of me,

Fair take, indeed.

If you have no idea about center, why does it make it bad?

I have watched all our potential starters who have played in the pre season plus Poe on an individual level. I can confidently say that I have seen nothing out of Brendel that would cause concern.

Agree, as long as the physical talent is there, and the mental toughness to learn and grow, those pass protection breakdowns will gradually be eliminated by more experience. Brunskill at right tackle is workable, and I'm gambling on his durability to pull us through the season and hopefully into the playoffs. For me, the OLine situation is marginally better than last year. Last year we had questions on right guard and tackle, this year assuming banks, Brendel, and Burford are as talented as i think they are, the question is only at right tackle.

That's good, but we know Center is vital to this offense and that worries me to be going from Mack to a nobody. Only time will tell how he calls the protections etc. I expect miscues for sure. Lets hope it is not at great expense. I just think we wont know until its actual game time and with that in mind it doesn't help that we face some of the best interior D-lines twice a year as well. Dont forget even Trent said having a great Center makes Kyles entire offense go.

I understand and even think RT may be the bigger problem than Center could be. I never liked McG and it seems we don't have a comforting alternative.

All in all, I expect a somewhat rough start, but would hope they stay healthy and improve each week. I think what helps us in the first 6 weeks for us aren't that terrible. It certainly gets tougher after that imo.

With such a young line they just need experience, and im not just biased against he idea. Going very young along the line has really good long term benefits, but i worry about Trey not having protection. We will know soon enough who has it and who doesn't.
I would pick up the center the jags let go of today
Isiah Wynn is available now too

We're great at picking up oft-injured players and letting them rehab the rest of their careers...and never playing for us. Why not?

Yea. Definitely not worth it.

Wynn was a favorite of mine… along with Meinerz and Poe. Bring him in!

Keep in mind our DLine is probably one of the elite D-Lines in the NFL. If *our* OLine can handle *our* D-Line in practice, they should be able to handle most defensive lines in the NFL, they just need the experience in playing together to achieve that. I'm sure they will struggle with blitzes and stunts etc. during the first couple of weeks. We need to have our defense blitz and stunt the hell out of our OLIne in practice and get them sharpened for the opposing defenses. The OLine, if relatively healthy, should be fine by midseason.
