They need to add some real tackles going forward and let guards be guards.

Who's not athletic? I would say Brunskill is more of a OT then a OG.

I don't get what Burford has to do with your complaint? He's been playing RG since day 1. Clearly that was what he was drafted for.

Moore and McKivitz are both 5th rd picks. I'm not sure what you're expecting? They're depth and no doubt we wouldn't want them to be starters for a long period of time. Developmental players nothing more.

I hated the Banks pick. If your spending basically a top 50 pick on a guard, he HAS to be a stud day 1 starter imo.

Yeah out of all our picks the last 2 drafts the ones that I liked the least in order were

1. Banks
2. TDP
3. Sermon

Really need those guys to step the F up and play to their draft position. But the Banks pick just made no sense to me, not only from the by all accounts overdraft but he didn't seem to fit the scheme. I'm hoping his move back to his natural spot and Trent getting back there next to him will get him playing better but we absolutely need him to work out.

But one thing I know about this regime is they will play who they think gives them the best chance to win. If Poe looks better, they'll play him.

i caught 3 guys triple teaming the DT on that GIF. They looked so confused out there.🤮

Stack talent until the standard is met.

They specifically target these 5th-UDFA's plus no FA's except dudes like Tom Compton because they are cheap, won't threaten the starters in front of them and you can use them as get-by players for a game or two.

Despite your theory the team is more than just the OL. You can't just keep throwing picks/$ at OL non stop. You have to let some of these guys develop.
All I want for Christmas is a good OL

Nah Burford was blocking his guy, they just got so close it looked like all 3 were in the same spot.
Niners fans are going to need to be patient with the progress of the O line. The entire interior is new so it takes some time to jell. Plus they haven't played a game yet with Williams. Having him in there makes a big difference. (obviously)

Yeah I think it's come to that. Make some trades do something.

Now it's come to that? I'm just saying bud there were red flags galore. I pray we don't show up to Chicago (game I'm attending) like that.

We traded for Laken Tomlinson on August 31st. Sometimes you have to see what you have, and what you don't have.

Oh I know. I get the team building aspect and balance, of course. Unfortunately this is the unit that makes everything go.

So...

So you think that is a mental mistake by Banks?

Surely NC is not blaming a high OL pick for this cuz we know that's the only way to improve the OL!

My issue has never been about the picks but the standard. You get a dime in the 7th, I could care less. Just get the dime...buy or draft and develop.

suddenly it appears some have work up to the shock and awe that we have a problem with the o line. the team did a very very poor job with this key aspect of the game in free agency and in the draft. the red flags were there going back to otas. but no.,.,. everyone just pinned their hopes on HOPING. when pre season began and before the draft i said we have one solid lineman in trent and then nothing after that.... nothing has changed.... and now we are in a reaction mode of well we better make trades.. hello.. where was this sense of urgency when the red flags were out all over the place earlier this summer. unless you were unwilling or unable to see them. even with trent being young.. this team had a solid 11 win potential.. with the current state of the line.... and i have no time for.. well it takes time for them to jell... you could be looking at 8 wins.

Garbage, they got 2 weeks to fix this issue.

with this current group of players.. it is what it is... lynch and kyle made this bed... it is unreal to me that they did a nice job of giving trey some weapons with skill guys but s**t the bed bad with the most crucial part of the game... the o line behind a young qb... jesus

Football really hasn't changed at the LOS for the last 40 years - not my opinion but from some of the top OL coaches in the league. Given what they've said, the red flags have been there. We were called crazy for just talking about red flags. True we did trade for Tomlinson on August 31st but we were in full rebuild mode that season. The team has different expectations this year.

Our best OLman has not been on the field in preseason. Not only is he our best OLman he may be the best OLman in the game right now, maybe the best player right up there with Aaron Donald.

I find it hard to believe if the coaches felt Banks was complete dog s**t they would wait this long to do something about it. They must see enough in him to keep him out there with the first team.

Brendel has played well, he may not be Alex Mack but he can be a Ben Garland level player which can be enough not to hurt us. Burford is legit, you can see it already. Kyle would never have a rookie with the first team who wasn't showing he can hang. He just needs to develop and grow.

My god you guys are so dramatic. We had our 4th and 5th string OTs out there next to young and inexperienced players and people are shocked they didn't dominate?

Calm down...

We had these freakouts so many times before - when Joe and McGlinchey got hurt in 2019. When McGlinchey got hurt last year and Compton hat to play RT. When we had Mike Person at RG. When Richburg got hurt.

We kept getting through it. Let's at least wait til the regular season to freak out.
Current take on the offensive line

LT- Trent better stay healthy. We have no backup

LG- Banks seems like a spot can be taken by Poe at some point. Longterm we have cheap youth here.

C- Brendal hasn't been our biggest problem and at this point deserves a chance

RG- Burford had his worst game but has the feel of a longterm starter

RT- MM sure seems like he's more valuable then we realized after watching backups here. Could see Brunskill here a lot this season if MM can't stay healthy.

it seems we have 6/7 guys. 5 healthy. Only one tackle healthy. If the FO can find a playable tackle id feel much better.
