Our run blocking has been top 5 and our pass blocking has been phenomenal during this win streak with the exception of the Mia game.

Madden ratings are more reliable than PPF

Note I said this was an OVERALL breakdown throughout the season. I also noted specific individual improvements of late. These rankings are only a general comparison. There is much more detailed info available if one wants to buy it and take the time to sort it all out. Both are of value.

PFF grades get real weird with lineman IMO.

Definitely not my favorite esp. for OL but whatchu gonna do? It's data points.

Here is a position-by-position comparison in the overall PFF ranking between Philly and the 49ers' OL.
SF--------------------Philly
LT - #1 ------------18 - of 79
RT - 34 ------------- 6 - of 79 (Arrow has been up for McGlinchey the past three games.)
LG - 38 ------------- 5 - of 87 (After a good start, Banks has been sliding down the list in recent games.)
RG - 28 ------------ 27 - of 87 (SF ranking is for Brunskill. Burford is #76.)
C - 20 -------------- 1 - 38 (Brendel has moved up from #26 about week 4.)

Though the play of the OL has been gradually on the upswing all season long, there is still room to improve. It will have to improve if we are to play in February.

Nice breakdown, DJ.

There's not 17 LTs better than Jordan Mailata... he's a beast.

First of all, there are only 4 points separating #18 and #10. That is hardly enough for the eye to separate in terms of overall efficiency. Where Mailata drops in the ratings is his pass blocking where he ranks in the high 40s. His run blocking is top 7.

All this is aside from my main point, which is, the 49ers' OL has been improving but there is still room for more. If McG continues as he has the past three games along with Brendel, and Banks can pick it up back to his earlier form, I think we will be just fine.

have you guys seen the Eagles Schedule ? you think we won't be number one playing that schedule ?

The only winning teams that they beat are Wash, Dallas, NYG and Tenn and loss to Wash

4 ? that wasn't the point thats just the teams they beat. I'm talking about the quality of the schedule. no doubt our ranking would be higher with their schedule
This game tonight will be a good test for our IOL. Shelby Harris and Al Woods are a load against the run game. Woods is like a moving barn door. He is just hard to get around. Prototypical space eater. It isn't his fault Seattle has not been good against the run. I will be watching that battle in particular. Edge and LB are the weakness in their run defense.

We have won 3 games against teams with a winning record. Our opponents combined winning % so far this season is .414 and the eagles is .476. Not really tough schedules for either team but the eagles schedule has been slightly tougher up to this point. The biggest difference between us and philly is that we lost to 3 teams with losing records and the eagles haven't lost any. Their only loss came against a division opponent with a winning record.

I thought Al Woods was injured?

These guys don't get every take right, but I think they know what they're doing.
Seahawks definitely played 49ers' offense and Purdy differently than Dolphins and Bucs did. A lot more coverage looks rather than blitzes. We knew it would likely start happening after Purdy burned teams for pressuring him by showing he knew where to go with the ball when blitzed. The Seahawks still played to stop the run first (and did a better job than they have on average this season), but there was definitely less pressure on Purdy on passing plays. OL did a really great job keeping him clean against the standard pass rush, which helped Purdy survey the field and execute some great Kyle play designs. Now teams also know that Purdy is just fine without blitzes as well.

Lets see. The whole NFC east is going to make the playoffs, the eagles also beat the s**t out of Tennessee and Minnesota, who will be the #2 seed.

But the eagles haven't played any quality opponents....
