I saw him put on his a$$ at least once badly. I think he will be OK down the road but he misses too many assignments right now.

I'll have to look for that one.

I don't see him getting overpowered if his pad level is good. He is very strong in the lower body. He just needs better technique.
So what are everyone's thoughts on Banks now, compared to last year?

He started this season well but in the past 5-6 games he has regressed from his early form.

900 snaps, 4 pens, 1 sack
Banks has done well in my eyes. Burford is the one that hasn't seemed to improve much during the season. Him and MM aren't a great combo. they got there asses whopped in the run game versus Seattle. I feel like we have for sure starter in Banks but Burford and Brendal are still question marks. Hopefully they both take a jump next year after another off season of work.

His run blocking is where the dropoff has occurred. His PP is about where it has been all year - average.
Banks is on year one as a starter and maybe has hit a wall. Burford needs an off season just like Banks last year to get better. We need an upgrade at Center and a couple of players to push Burford and Mcglinchey (if he's resigned). Can we afford or Is there a FA wether it's a C or RT(better than Mcglinchey of course) from the savings once Jimmy/Mcglinchey not resigned?

teams are lining up more defenders at the line.. he's sometimes getting two guys to block

I think you're correct on Banks. He needs another year to reach his potential.

Burford splitting time with Brunskill was supposed to keep them both fresher and allow Burford to improve. So far, Brunskill has been far better in both PP and RBLK. They are perhaps moving Burford out to RT if McGlinchey leaves, IDK. Brunskill is also better as a tackle, IMO. Brendel's continued improvement has been a pleasant surprise.

What puzzles me is that all of the OL except TW are better at PP than at RBLK. Is Kyle's system making it tougher on them? Is Kyle adding more plays they have not yet mastered? Or is the current crew just not good run blockers? (McG is slightly better RBLK than PP.)

I haven't noticed him getting a disproportionately higher number of double-team challenges than anyone else. I see him not moving anyone or moving cleanly to hit second-level targets. Brendel has been more effective in the second half of the season in both PP and RBLK.

I haven't given up on Banks. He just isn't making the progress he needs to make.
