That can't be though. Eagles had the consensus #1 OL and an elite QB and couldn't win the championship . Failure

It's like their might be more to it then that or something.

LOL. Norwell was a proven 24 year old all pro and Jensen was a monster.

Clearly, this is the same field of Colton McKivitz who was cut last year for Jaylon Moore. LOL.

So developing low round picks and undrafted players only matters on other rosters. Convenient.

What about Colton to date has you thinking he is in that bucket?

I'm for adding talent at every level. Just add it. Prioritize it like it matters. Demonstrate a Championship level standard vs. "good enough" and "we hope."

Lol give it a rest

If/when Colton struggles, we'll make sure to note the FO, you and 9ers4eva had all the faith in the world in him; so much so, nothing else needed to be done at the position. #GoodEnough

Kind of like how you said the OL would be crap last year, every tear for that matter, and we all said we would give it time before rushing to judgement then what do you know, top 5 OL.
its ok we all know you are desperately rooting for him to fail so you can tell everyone how right you were .

Nope, never said that. We had absolutely nothing to go on for Banks, Brendel and Burford. I said I'd evaluate after 8 weeks. I was very very happy with their baseline year, no doubt. Now the next phase will be to grow to compete or hold serve with the top DL's we'll be facing...something the entire unit pass protection struggled with in the playoffs (hence the new TE's).

Colton? It's been rough. He only had 68 snaps last year after being cut, 70 in 2021 and 359 in 2020. Going from a JAG spot-starter to a 17-20 game starter is a really big jump and 429 of those 497 snaps were brutal.

If you want to hang your hat on their words that he's turned a corner since being cut last year and only look at the 68 snaps of PFF grades from last year, by all means. I hope he balls out b/c he's cheap as hell and he would be a true late developmental player.

To date, I didn't see a talented player with great upside who just needed three years of development. He's on the same level of the Skule's and Compton's of our history in talent. I do like Pryor as competitive depth though. It wouldn't surprise me if he won out if given a real shot to compete. But neither are likely the answer who will help us get over the hump in the playoffs, IMHO.

You obviously feel differently and that's perfectly fine too...we are the Faithful.

So did the Chiefs. Hence the one FG game ending. #1 and #2 OL's playing in the Superbowl with 2 QB's playing at an elite level as well. The formula, as predicted, checks out again.

Keep staying with that losing formula.

Yup, it's the winning formula. Eagles added even more this year with Tyler Steen with their 3rd pick (they didn't even need him per se). They should retain their #1 ranking by Brandon Thorn for 2023.

Chiefs had big T losses this year but still added Jawaan Taylor and Wayna Morris. I think they drop in BT's rankings this year. We'll see.

With Mike McGlinchey gone and Colton McKivitz in and Spencer Burford slated to start FT now, I'm 'guessing' he'll have us around 11th or so. He usually has us ranked as the lowest (or near) of the playoff OL's though and that's certainly held true.

Should go back to the Baalke days and add Josh Garnett Brandon Thomas and Marcus Martin just to show commitment.
What rounds were Jordan Mailata and Jason Kelce drafted in again?
They really must have mega-faith in Colton.

We'll have to wait and see how he performs under fire.
The only real open competition for a starting job, with everyone healthy, is RT between Moore, Pryor and McKivitz. At RG, outside of the expected rookie blips here and there by Burford, he played extremely well as a rookie and I expect him to make an Aaron Banks-like jump going into year two. Jon Feliciano can backup all three interior OL spots, so we might not even keep a ton of extra OL this year unless they show way too much promise to let go of.

The way I see it:

1ST STRING
LT: Trent Williams
LG: Aaron Banks
C: Jake Brendel
RG: Spencer Burford
RT: Colton McKivitz

2ND STRING
LT: Matt Pryor
LG: Jason Poe
C: Jon Feliciano
RG: Nick Zakelj
RT: Jaylon Moore

3RD STRING
LT: Alfredo Gutierrez
LG: Ilm Manning
C: Keith Ismael
RG: Cory Luciano
RT: Joey Fisher

That looks accurate to me as well.
Can Fisher make this team or will the NFL will just be too much for him.. (I loved his film)

Things I Learned today.
One reason it takes a bit of time for Kyle's OLinemen to get up to speed is because a lot of zone blocking is combo blocking verses in gap/power schemes it's a simple one on one kind of blocking with no *reads* by the offensive linemen. Kyle's offensive linemen actually have to read the defense in the zone blocking system versus just going at his assigned guy, and blocking him. So the offensive linemen in Kyle's system have to *read* the same situation the same way, and I think that's why it takes a while for his Offensive linemen to adjust to it.
Here is Alex Gibbs coaching on the zone run. At the 30 minute mark is where Alex teaches the combo read blocks.
