2nd or 3rd would be very fair. But that combo of top OL + QB clearly is the winner. Better than QB + Secondary thus far.

Had the 9ers had better than an undrafted rookie back there in the SB to blow the 3rd and 15 coverage it's a different conversation.

True! That wasn't a TD though. But to your overall point, the defense completely caved from that point on across the board and the secondary was certainly a part of that 21-point collapse.

Truth!

Very cool to see Leroy Watson help teach Ilm Manning some things.

It's called "raising a point." And I didn't even include Sean McVay and LaFleur under his coaching tree since he didn't coach here. Otherwise, that'd be 6. How many coordinators have you seen hired from 4-12 teams without a clue over the years?

If we're doing such a horrible job at major positions, why does everyone want a part of what Kyle has been doing?

The challenge is for you to connect the dots and explain.

The only reason I can gather for why such a simple question makes you uncomfortable is because you have no legit counter to it.

I actually thing the 49er coach's have been really good. I think the system the defensive coordinator have put in helps cove up the lack of talent at the CB position. This is their job and what they came up with work really well. They deserved to get credit for being great defensive coordinators. The think the O line coach did a great to fantastic job last year with the talent he was given.
I agree with JoseCortez and I have no idea why you think the coordinators have anything to do with lack of drafting OL with the intention to play him at Tackle , drafting CB or a Centers ?? How anything I wrote has anything to do with the coaches on the 49er ?
When the pads come on we will vet a better sense of how oit new LT is doing. TJ Watt coming week 1.

correct
I hope JL/KS can pick up a good rotational T from another team's practice Squad or elsewhere since Moore had an injury today.

I'm not very confident in him at all.

1) Have you seen the other things that the guy has been posting the last few years here? It's not his first rodeo, and he clearly has a narrative I take issue with.

2) There's a huge difference between "I sure would like us to beef up the OLine more" (#5 overall last yr, per PFF) and "these guys have no clue at all what they are doing with how to build and manage a roster."

Let's not pretend like the latter narrative is nowhere to be found. Given several notorious posters here, it's been littered here time and time again.

But if you want a parallel connection, it's easy to make one: If our main guys here are too stupid to even begin to manage a roster at a spot like OLine, we wouldn't have been having the success we've had here as a team. Coordinators constantly being stripped away here is evidence that quite clearly, they have a clue with what they are doing. Otherwise, they wouldn't have so many admirers around the league.

So yea,...not allowing the extreme nitpicking of one position here or there (We've seen it @ CB, OL, QB, you name it) hide out. I do invite you to prove how they can be "clueless" and "inept" per messageboard fans,....yet widely admired as of late amongst their peers,...all at the same time. I dont reside to the "both can be true" line with this one, obviously.

So please, point me in the right direction concerning Cortez's feelings about the guys in charge here.
We better pray no starters get hurt because surprise..... our line looks thin.

Fr. I can't think of 1 team who has starting caliber O lineman just waiting on the bench.

Agree

However, there may be some cap casualty on a 2nd tier OL guy or someone we can take from a practice squad that is better than what we have on the roster.

You're not wrong, but other teams didn't start 4 QB's last year either.

Sacks do not equal injury and our O line was ranked in the top 10 in both run blocking as well as pass blocking last season. The point I was making is that I am sure all teams would love to have quality O line depth but its just unrealistic.
It sounds like so far we are a hell of a lot better off than last years appearance of a straight dumpster fire during preseason.

Maybe we have one of the best lines in football this year.

This is a pleasant surprise.
