Maybe we have one of the best lines in football this year.

This is a pleasant surprise.

I hope so but will remain the cynic for everyone sanity

Where are you reading or seeing this? Everything I'm reading and seeing is we're in serious trouble. Please give me some good news to read. It's the biggest area of concern to anyone who knows our team including me.

John Chapman says that the would be sacks in camp have been given up by an o lineman here and an o lineman there. Nothing to be concerned about. That the only o lineman consistently struggling is Zakelj at backup center. He even went on to say that McKivitz has been pretty solid in his 1v1's. But even so, I am sure all of us are waiting to see how they look for ourselves on 8/13.

Somebody said Burford is blowing.

Are we going to have to spend our vet de budget on a vet og? People were talking up burford all spring.

Idk. I haven't heard anything about Burford. But like I said. We'll just have to wait and see for ourselves.
My dark horse and camp crush doe OL is
Leroy Watson 1V… a concerted TE playing OT. Think of him playing swing tackle and helping RT as a 3 OT that could be tackle eligible : flex oit Kittle as slot wr . I think he and Matt a Pryor will make the final 63
From Rohan Chakravarthi's article today (QBs through 1 week)

IMO, that's a crazy number of sacks.
Full stats
Brock Purdy: 22/36(61.1%), 10 sacks, 2 TDs, 2 INTs, 1 fumble, 1 drop
Trey Lance: 25/39(64.1%), 2 sacks, 1 drop, 2 TDs(1 rush)
Sam Darnold: 20/35(57.1%), 5 sacks, 3 TDs, 1 drop

When operating as QB1
Brock Purdy: 22/36(61.1%), 10 sacks, 2 TDs, 2 INTs, 1 fumble, 1 drop
Trey Lance: 5/9(55.6%), 1 TD
Sam Darnold: 4/6(66.7%), 1 TD, 1 sack

That's odd. Someone else posted stats yesterday of Trey's comp/att, completion percentage, etc. as QB1 and it was completely different from this.

I just saw it again. Said he was 9/13 on days that Brock didn't practice.

Yep then when the season starts TJ Watt. I'm glad we're developing QB'S we're gonna need them. Hope I'm wrong but what I've heard is we are thin at backup swing tackles. One injury to TW and we're toast.

Exactly what should alarm us Niners fans.

1) Have you seen the other things that the guy has been posting the last few years here? It's not his first rodeo, and he clearly has a narrative I take issue with.

2) There's a huge difference between "I sure would like us to beef up the OLine more" (#5 overall last yr, per PFF) and "these guys have no clue at all what they are doing with how to build and manage a roster."

Let's not pretend like the latter narrative is nowhere to be found. Given several notorious posters here, it's been littered here time and time again.

But if you want a parallel connection, it's easy to make one: If our main guys here are too stupid to even begin to manage a roster at a spot like OLine, we wouldn't have been having the success we've had here as a team. Coordinators constantly being stripped away here is evidence that quite clearly, they have a clue with what they are doing. Otherwise, they wouldn't have so many admirers around the league.

So yea,...not allowing the extreme nitpicking of one position here or there (We've seen it @ CB, OL, QB, you name it) hide out. I do invite you to prove how they can be "clueless" and "inept" per messageboard fans,....yet widely admired as of late amongst their peers,...all at the same time. I dont reside to the "both can be true" line with this one, obviously.

So please, point me in the right direction concerning Cortez's feelings about the guys in charge here.

I'm real not understand you point. 2 defensive coordinator and 1 Offensive Coordinator did great work and where hired as head coaches there for the OL Daft and CB / Center draft is good to great and I'm not aloud to think anything ells ??? What your saying make no sense. The coach's have been good. Shanahan has hire great coaches. The team has not draft Offensive tackle very well. When was the last time they draft a center? CB have not been draft well. Its really not that hard to figure out. What ever your point is I'm not sure? Maybe you just want to get you post number up ?
All I'm saying is if they drafted a little better they would have more talent on the O line and CB position.
Since Shanahan has been here the 49er have used around 11 second and third round draft pick on WR. In the last 3 draft they used 1 second and 3 third round pick on RB. Maybe if out of around 15 draft pick in the top 3 round they could have draft a couple of Tackle and a Center the O line would have more talent.
