Sure, when you have an insane defense like that and the Legion of Sherman, it can happen too.

So you can have a tier one defensive backfield, or a tier one defensive front and not need a tier one offensive line to win it all? Just want to make sure because these are two recent examples that seem to counter your argument.

What gives you the best odds?

In the end, is there any real difference between PM with a non-Tier 1 OL or a Flacco, Garoppolo & Goff with a Tier 1 OL??? It's still a possibility for both but what gives you the best odds?
best odds is a QB who won't lose you the game

top OLs give up pressure all the time, they are not perfect. no line is. perfect example is last years SB winner

Sure. But we just saw 2 top, ever historic, defenses lose recently too. It's much more of a passing league now then the Ravens and Seahawks-days. And neither were sustainable. So yes, there are numerous ways a team could build a Superbowl winner. But the most recent years are showing a common trend that shouldn't be ignored.

If only there were more factors on a field besides a QB. Haha.

And by QB, you mean, Patrick Mahomes.

Hopefully he has a child soon and delivers it in a SF hospital.

def more aspects, but OL is not going to complete passes when there's pressure on the QB.

PM is not the only one who can do it, but he's been pretty good at it

Buccs defense won the Super Bowl Vs the Chiefs not Tom Brady.

Yes there is a tremendous difference. The playoffs just showed that.

Elite Qb >>> Elite OL. Full stop.

True. But he also had the #1 OL and wasn't touched that game either. Some odd guy by the name of Tristan Wirfs had the highest grade that day.

They all lost without a tier 1 OL. Sooooo?

Only 1 of them had a tier 1 OL and...won.

Weird. Must be a coincidence.

It doesn't matter what proof is presented he will die on this hill lol.

Nobody is arguing you don't need an OL. It just doesn't need to be top tier. What we have had since we got TW, has been good enough. Insert any top QB on this team during the past 4-5 years and we are winning at least one SB. There's no way that people can actually really debate that if we had Stafford or Brady we wouldn't been the ones with a SB. Then imagine if we had someone like Herbert, PM, Burrows, Rodgers...

They've done a good enough job. Not great albeit, but still enough . Trent Williamsz, McG was a first round pick, Banks 2nd round, and we've sprinkled in some 2nd/3rd day picks.

OL can only do so much. Idk if NC is forgetting the JH years, but we had some damn good players with pro bowlers all across the OL. QB position still let us down when it mattered in the playoffs...

NC in the OL thread is top tier, S tier if you will, or do we just call that, tier 1 WZ poster?
am I getting this correct?
I have to say, I don't totally get the tiers, what tier is SF?

Yup, a great offensive lines allows the QB and others to play up to their potential.

A terrible offensive line destroys even the best franchise QB's.

What about an OL ranked 5th in the league by season's end? (PFF)

What happens then?

Hmmm weird how the Chiefs out gained the #1 O line in yards. Defenses > Oline

Hence, why you need *both*

Do you think the tier 1 Lions OL is going to carry Goff to a Superbowl? Of course not. But it certainly gives him the best shot to play up to his ceiling.

Guess week 1 should be a resounding Lions victory then no? KC not having an elite OL and all.

Lions? Goff is a tier 1 QB now?

Jimmy was a tier 1 QB when??

So now a tier 1 QB is required with a tier 1 OL?

The SB is all wrapped up then... But why dont betting lines currently reflect this?

NC must be a multi-millionaire by now in this age of legalized gambling.
