We still have a sea of cap space now, right?

Let's see who wants to tank after 8 games in should there be someone we want to shore up a couple weak spots. This staff clearly aint scared....lol.

You've literally been fighting against it for 7 years. LOL

But glad you're on record now. And I totally agree with the balance. That's the center of the whole issue...the disproportionate resources to the DL.

As to your prediction, I already gave you props for that but there was no way you could have known. Nobody knew what we had then. But props nonetheless!

So let's "trust" the process this year and see how McKivitz and the boys do this year.

There's always next year, right?

Here's one possible prospect for next years draft.
17. T JOE ALT, NOTRE DAME
The massive 6-foot-8 Joe Alt has been on NFL radars since high school. His frame will naturally remind people of former Notre Dame offensive tackle Mike McGlinchey, who was 6-foot-7 and 309 pounds at the 2018 NFL Combine.
Alt provides the same allurement with his size; he's just so tough to get around. But where some offensive tackles get by with just being mountains on the edge, Alt has some finesse to his game, too. His feet are light and quick for a player of his size, and that showed up in his PFF stats, as he allowed just a 2.5% pressure rate on 409 pass-blocking snaps in 2022. He also showed his power in the ground game with an elite 91.4 run-blocking grade. He could make a case as the top offensive tackle in the draft.

FYI and FWIW Joe Alt is currently being projected as a top 10 pick.

Lots of things can happen before the 2024 draft. Purdy was ranked high before he fell to the 7th round. My hope is we get a first round level talent next year for the OLIne. Got to protect that Franchise QB.

He's a young guy, and his first real start and it's the first game - I'm confident he'll be better by game 17 vs now. We'll see, but Foerster has done a great job developing Banks, Brnedel and Burford. We'll se what he does with McKivits. Having said that, if we get a rashaun level OT, before the draft deadline, I'm not going to complain.

Very unlikely a trade will happen.

Overall O line was solid. Gotta see if Watt is just Watt or if Colton will be an issue. Pitt is on par with Dallas and Philly in the pass rush department so gotta see how the new few weeks go

Ok we were both right 4eva we need help in the secondary and the o line. Solid game but both need to be tightened up. Thomas could kill us later in the season as McKivitz as well

Secondary is still more concerning. Lenoir still has a long way to go Pitt just couldn't threaten. Other teams will.

I kinda agree Thomas also could cost us later in the season. McKivitz also is a major hole. Donte Whitner mentioned D coordinators will be looking to stop the run and in passing situations go after the right side of the line. That's what I would do. So think we need to address both holes in the team. Secondary in the last series of the first half scared the crap out of me lol.

They need to address both. As I said before I expect tackle to be the first rounder. BYU tackle seems like our type of prospect.

Might have to spend some of that league high cap money to fix that right tackle spot…just sayin
They gonna have to trade for a RT

I'd like to believe they were going to take a tackle had the run on tackles didn't happen. I'll see what McKivitz is looking like after 4 weeks. But yeah, this was bad.

I'll watch the next BYU game next week. Yes both...

AGree, the BlitzBurg defense is a good defense. TJ Watt is a Bosa level edge rusher and McKivitz held his own - for the most part. Personally, I think McKivitz did good for his first outing. Not perfect, especially against TJ Watt, who's elite level, but at least Brock is still alive.

As for the Trade, you probably are right, but I'm still hoping they get a good player at fire sale prices if they do try for a trade before the trade deadline. What better trade than for a first Round level OT. But if they get a first round level DB, I'd not complain either. I"m still ticked that they didn't get an OT in the draft, but Feliciano and Pryor probably are the temporary stop gap solution for this season. If they do well in subbing in for a game or two, they probably will be gone a la Compton and Brunskill, and the 49ers will be back to zero talent at the backup OLine squad.

No one is trading us a quality RT lol. You can get quality at other spots, but not tackle in season. There aren't 64 starting caliber tackles in the league. Nobody is going to trade one, without there being some major issue.

McKivtiz did an OK job given his tough assignment. The 49ers clearly gave him a step up challenge / opportunity, often with no TE or OG double team help to augment the lack of his experience.

This does not mean he should be immediately benched. Brunskill had some rough games before he became consistent. Same with Burford. The Rams will be a good test with lesser talent to see how he fares in his 2nd start as a full-time starter.

The rest of the line held their own.
