Oh no doubt, the end results look amazing. But this is the OL thread. Any concerns going forward? Or is it manageable? Nothing that could be exploited going forward that could affect the end result?

Have to see if it's McKivitz or Watt. Next week will be a better barometer.

Well, unless Watt averages 3 sacks/game you have your answer. Judging him against inferior edge rushers will only give a false sense of security, since the team won't face inferior ERs in the playoffs.

You judge him over a body of work. Not a game. Dan Brunskill could stop Aaron Donald for a single game, but that didn't make him an All Pro guard. We'll know more in a few weeks.

I agree, but only to a certain extent. Maybe Watt is the only guy in the league that can make him look foolish, and I hope to hell that's true. Very little chance we face him in the Super Bowl. What I'm saying is this team is so loaded they only have 2 possible weaknesses. The secondary would be the other, but they looked decent today and can be masked by the pass rush. If McKivitz is truly as bad as he looked today, I'd rather not wait until Darnold is the starter to address it.

A better qb takes advantage of the secondary today.

No doubt McKivitz must improve. I just want to see how much it was facing the dpoy week 1. Got months to get better. It's also entirely possible that he will be like MM and we just have to try and maneuver around him.

That's entirely possible now that they have a QB with pocket awareness and maneuverability. I'm obviously nitpicking, since they have so few weaknesses, just hate to think this one could cost. I'd really hope with the extra cap space they'd try to improve there.

No one of value will be available I don't think.

That was a decent comparison today. I didn't see the run-blocking power from McKivitz that MM had but he did seem to move fairly well overall.

He will have some good tape to look at this week. One thing to remember, having to go against Bosa in practice is great prep to go against a TJ Watt. McK didn't have that during the past six weeks. Let's see how things go now that Nick is back.

We just hope he can improve from here til the end of the year.

Well like I said, I think everyone is available for the right price. I'd want next years 1st round pick to be OT, but that may not even pan out. So why not trade next years 1st for a proven RT? I'd imagine a good RT could be had for a 1st round pick.
With all talk of McKivitz, I'm a bit concerned about Burford. He's got a date with Donald next week and he has looked shaky.

Meh, penalties aren't gonna get our FQB hurt.

It's not just the penalties. He got beat a lot of times, and two out of those penalties you mentioned he also got beat.
Last year it wasn't as noticeable with him sharing snaps with Brunskill.
I was just watching the Aiyuk highlights posted in the other thread, so these are from plays that were made, not even penalties or negative plays...watch #74

0:03
On the first TD, ok this is a blitz, but he is slow to pick it up and CMC has to pick it up.

0:11
Blocking air after he sees his man drift into coverage. Not as big a deal as some of these other instances.

1:06
Allows pressure up the middle which Purdy does wonders stepping around. Not sure if there was holding on that, the PIT defender wanted a flag.

1:46
Pretty horrendous whiff allowing immediate pressure. Once again Purdy bails him out with an accurate throw on third down

Considering Heyward was out for half the game, I am concerned for Burford.

What team trades top tier olinemen unless they don't give a s**t and wanna tank like the dolphins did trading Tunsil? They were in their tank for Tua campaign. I don't get why folks saying we need to trade for a tackle as if teams are trading tackles at a time where it's tough to draft one these days alone. Only way we're improving that position is thru the draft
