I've only rewatched the first quarter with all 22 but I was surprised how often we were sliding the line to the weak LB leaving 1 on 1 blocks for our RT/RG, while the Steelers were sliding to the strong side to provide 3 on 2's towards bosa and armstead.
would need someone more knowledgeable to chime in on that and possible reasonings. Traveling today so I haven't watched the other 3Qs to see if we adjusted that strategy.

I'm betting they were anticipating blind side blitzes. I saw Brock get away from one of those and hit Deebo for a first down. The QB can see (with his peripheral vision) blitzes and pressure coming from the right side, but not so much from his blind side. The last sack TJ Watt sack, Purdy happens to be looking to the left and didn't feel TJ Watt coming.

Just because a QB escaped the pressure by moving out of the pocket or getting rid of the ball just before being hit doesn't exempt the O lineman from being responsible for giving up the pressure in the first place. Regardless of whether the play ended in a sack or not.
You are overcomplicating it Yac
9ers pressure allowed = bad pressure, clearly can't be a tier 1 OL
Every other team = not as bad pressure, still could be tier 1 OL

I was starting to think that I lived in the twilight zone.

I saw from the highlight clips, Burford and McKivitz are having coordination problems. BlitzBurg was - well - blitzing and stunting a lot. Two of the TJ Watt sacks, I think, McKivitz was confused on what angle to take on TJ watts pass rush, hesitated a split second and Purdy got hit. I think Burford could have helped McKivitz on one of those sacks, but was distracted by a fake blitz.
That last TJ Watt sack, I dont know why Kyle is calling (what looked like) a 7 step drop play in the late 3rd/early 4th qtr, up by over 20 points at that time. Unless Purdy just took too long, and his internal clock wasn't adjusted by Bosa at practice yet. That might be on Purdy for taking too long in the pocket.
I noticed alot of those things you mentioned as well.

Yeah he mentioned they threw a totally different coverage than they expected and it caused the brain fart up and down on that play.
I will say it seems like line play is down overall across the league.

I agree. KC's o line didn't look all that good and PHI's line gave up 3 sacks this past Sunday.

Yeah that was one of his 3 in a single game.
That should tell you enough...

Bengals have released Collins from the pup list. Should sign him and cut Pryor.

KC definitely doesn't have the talent they did last year. That's no surprise to me at all.
Philly though, they've got no excuses.

I brought this up in the FA thread and, if healthy, I hope the team at least looks into this option.

Give Brock Purdy time to throw (say 4 seconds in the pocket) and he'll be unstoppable.
Just watching Johnny Del's breakdown and JTO's breakdown of how Purdy can see the field so well, give Purdy 4 seconds and 9 times out of ten he'll be completing mid range passes on defenses all day. Add in a good strong run game with a good OLine that doesn't even have to be average at run blocking - as long as they are above average to elite at pass blocking - and man you can see how hard this offense will be to stop with all the receiving talent they have. Brock's ability to see and read the defense is so elite.

I say it is week 1 and no one's O line really dominated. We will probably have to wait several weeks to get a good gauge of which units will become the cream of the crop.
