From the HP...PFF doesn't seem to match up with...PFF.

Pro Football Focus continues to give guard Aaron Banks low marks. His 47.5 overall grade was amongst the worst of the game. It's his lowest regular-season grade since Week 12 last season (42.6), and his pass-blocking grade of 19.9 is his worst ever of the regular season.

Three of the five 49ers offensive linemen—Spencer Burford, Jake Brendel, and Banks—earned pass-blocking grades of 39.3 or lower. Only Trent Williams (90.6) and Colton McKivitz (78.6) earned higher marks on passing snaps.

With Brendel, they brought a ton of A gap blitzes so I wonder how fair these grades are esp. given PP is his strength. In fact, I'm SUPER skeptical of all of these grades given the 85% blitz rate. TW alone had 3 penalties and penalties usually count against PFF grades, IIRC. McKivitz also had a big penalty (off set on the PF call on CMC?). These things should count against a player, IMHO.

It was crazy how much pressure they brought. I think we all held our breath then slowly exhaled as they improved. D coordinators are trying to figure out how to rattle Purdy and while they almost got him in the beginning, he settled in and did well. I think their DT's showed how pedestrian Brendal is. They certainly showed our line needs to communicate better.

I am thinking/assuming we pick at best, mid 20's? That's a prime spot to snag a Center or RT, but we will probably go DT or DE

Wont go CB. Only thing I'm sure of.

mid 20's or late late first round tackle won't be good enough to start

Do y'all know what happened to provoke Trent Williams to give that "love tap"?

he was uppercutted and reacted

Ah ok. I missed that.
Honestly, I did see several kinda dirty moves by the Giants. That guy's smile after he pulled the facemask on CMC ticked me off.

Anyway, the right side of the Oline still has a ways to go. I hope it is just learning to play together better... I just don't know.

Mid 20's you can usually get the #1 C. But yeah, probably #5-7 T.
Overall, here is where our OL ranks by PFF.

Brendel - 25 out of 33. He started at the same point last year and wound up #15, IIRC.

Banks - 57/68 - much lower than last year. He finished last season in the high teens.

Burford - 65/68 - roughly the same as last year. I don't see the progress. Perhaps not having the more experienced McG next to him hurt.

McKivitz - 52/70 - he is who we thought he was—better pass protector than a run blocker. We have a less effective opposite-skill-level of McGlinchey.

Williams - 3/70

Yes, all the blitzing may have knocked down the numbers somewhat, however, other teams will look at the tape and follow suit.

I looked last week and there is not much that will get to market. The best is Jonah Williams of Cincy with a projected market value of $14.5M/yr. Eluemenor of LV might be a slight upgrade but is not worth the bump in price over McKivitz.
